Merry christmas to all
I have an 2018 road glide ultra and want to change the info system to something more useful and faster I was looking at the Sony XAV-AX5000 Turnkey Rushmore Radio but want to make sure whatever unit I decided on will work with the existing controls if at all possible
If there are options of other units and wiring systems please help
Several threads here on the ax5000. I don’t know about other options, perhaps Alpine and Kenwood?
There are several places to get the ax5000 with interface to Road Glide, per google.
I got mine, and an amp, from Paul at 702 Motoring in Las Vegas.
Lancaster here. As far as your initial question I have no personal experience with the aftermarket Rushmore head units but a couple local guys have the Sony. If you read on here a bit it seems that some functionality is lost due to hand control issues and water can be an issue. Biketronics has a cover for it but it's pretty new at this point.
Functionality is lost. Mostly just have clutch side thumb for volume, skip/repeat tune, and press to step thru input sources. Ax5000 is great for audio tho and supports Android Auto and Car play. I replaced 4.3 boom and don’t miss it. Ax5000 isn’t marine rated, so I added some water resistance. Lot of info from various folks on that as well.
