Default 2017 Street glide

I have a 2017 Street glide special I'm planning on upgrading my speakers in my fairing and in my bags. I'm assuming I'm going to mess up my warranty on audio section of my bike. Is that all I will lose or will I lose all the warranty on my electrical parts. Or would I be better off buying a plug-and-play system warranty wise?

No system is plug and play since you have to take off the tank/ seat to run wires for the amp to the battery and run wiring from the amp to the speakers. Just exactly are you wanting? 4 speaker setup? Speakers in the lids or inside the bags? 6x9's, 8's, 10's? Every setup that the gurus here will never cut any factory wiring so not to void your warranty. What type of music? One up or 2 up riding? The reason for all the questions are to get you the right setp without spending a bunch of money.

I will tell you that the first thing you will need is a bt-355 line leveler to get a clean signal from the boom hu to the amp.

Okay cool! I'm a beginner and all this audio stuff. I don't usually listen to the stereo real loud or all the time I just want a decent set up without breaking the bank and I've heard that just about anything is better than my factory speakers .I'm wanting to do 6.5 speakers in my fairing and 6x9s in buy bag lids with a 4 channel amp. I'd like to keep it round $400 to $500

That's not doable @ $500 on even the most budget of budget systems. At least not anything we'd recommend here.
Maybe just starting off with an amp and fairing speakers and upgrade the lids at a later date.

I’m relatively new (upgraded audio last year), but fully agree with SBates. Those with speakers in lids say they can’t hear them at speed anyway.

You can upgrade fairing speakers and get decent amp in your budget. Later, if you want more, you may opt for lowers rather than lids,

On a budget it's hard to beat the Hertz HCX165 and CV B52.

Hey good morning everyone,

To Piggyback on the thread a little if I may. I am new to Harley as of last season and have a 16' FLHXS, I just started installing my own system as well in to lids with an amp. I have power but no sound, I have heard both ways saying that I need to get the system "Flashed," and that I do not have to since it is a Special. Is this true or False? Either way I have wired in a Line Leveler in the fairing, RCA cables back to the 4 Channel AMP and then wired in everything in the saddlebags to the amp. Any Guidance or better Knowledge?
