Default amp install trouble

2014 SGS, installing a RF Punch amp. power light is on even when the remote wire is not connected. power light is also on when the bike is off. I am 99% certain everything is wired correctly largely cause it was a plug n play....I purchased the corresponding RF wire harness and even watched the video on how to install so overall its pretty fool proof. also with a multimeter it is showing power to the remote wire even when disconnected. there does not appear to be any wires crossed over/the battery wire touching the remote wire at the plug.

I know this could be a sign of the amp being bad but it is brand new and I would think somewhat unlikely. could this be something to do with the battery? I have had some issues with the battery and plan on getting it tested today, but was curious if that's even a possibility...

I also plan to call RF but they aren't open yet so thought i'd jump on here...

Can I ask who you purchased your amp from Mike?

There should be a switch on the amp for how the remote turn on comes on.

would that be the high level adjust? the instructions are pretty vague and I wasn't exactly sure what that was for/how to adjust it

well maybe I should have spoke to RF first....they just told me this amp does not need the remote wire connected for certain stereos, including newer factory HDs. it has a sensor and turns itself on and off based on input from the stereo head. they said the power light will turn off after a few minutes once the bike is turned off. there is a delay and this is why the amp appeared to be on all the time, but will in fact turn off after a couple of minutes. they said I do not need the remote wire based on the year and model of bike its on.

Cool. Most of the punch amps have that remote turn on option. You should be good to go now.

while on here I will ask another question....its about the battery issue. I think I need a new battery regardless. bike was bought used and i cannot verify the age or reliability of the battery but it had to be jumped recently and i did do so from my truck....with the truck running. just did it out of habit liked jumping a car and didn't think to leave it off. anyway afterwards the bike has run fine since. i keep it on a trickle charger now and the voltage stays good while riding. curious if i had done some sort of damage when jumping from a running vehicle how quickly would it be apparent and what sorts of issues would it potentially have caused?
