See you there hopefully.

I've been to a few SOS events and I never thought that the person that won each class wasn't deserving or that someone else had a much better sounding bike than who won. Not sure why anyone would feel that the judging isn't fair.

I am not saying it isn't fair, just know that opinions differ. I also read on here somewhere in a discussion about the event in Galveston that they felt the best one didn't win. And something was mentioned about the one that won happened to be a customer of who was putting on the event.

That event you are referring to was at a metered event where that happened at.

Ok
I guess my thinking is if you have 2 or more bikes that are the same or very close in SQ then it becomes the opinion of the judges. It not like skeet shooting the target either breaks or not, so it's not a judgement call.

One question, does one bike always out do the others where it's no question?

The good shows also have a have standard play list so in a tie breaker, competitors will play a same song chosen at random. This isn't a show where you and I drink a beer and pick which one we LIKE or pick our buddy and the winner is chosen by his friends in the crowd. There's criteria that you are judged against - clarity, volume, bass, install, etc. and given a composite score. There are bikes with installs worth over 15grand.

You keep going back to judgement call but how is ANY ever judged event in the world done. You set a standard and judge against criteria.

Wam I’ve had a few different apps on my phones over the years and they have all pegged at 99dB.

Like everyone else said, you can get loud as hell with enough audiovox speakers but it’ll still sound like *** lol. SQ is where it’s at.

And once again, I was at Lucky 7 yesterday picking up some supplies and heard a bike with stock bags that was mind blowing loud and clear. It’s stupid some of these badass builders can pull off with 6-8 speakers.

Thanks, I am just trying to learn how things are done. I don't think there's anywhere that explains it. Not that I need to know, but just want to. It's kinda like watching a game and you don't know what's going on, it's always better if you understand the rules and how the game is played.
Thanks Allen

Brother, these events are IMHO more of a social event that anything. Good camaraderie and folks sharing their passion for custom sleds & solid sled audio.
Yeah there is a competition that takes place and some folks take it pretty damn serious to promote & showcase their shops which is a sound business strategy. The other dudes in the big ring just have the cash to burn, equal passion & are severely addicted.
No need to know all the rules brother. Just show up and enjoy the exceptional audio. Your ears will be your judge and determine your favorite build that u can model future improvements off of. The judges in the ring are generally very very experienced with the rules & voting parameters however the winning sleds may in fact be far from easy on your ears. Some may truly bring perfection to your ears!!!
That's the beauty of these events. Everyone in attendance is a winner as it truly helps advance sled audio for all and is just a damn good time seeing folks from all walks of like come together and just enjoy audio. Music really is a magical thing for your soul so just keep an open mind and enjoy the Daytona audio & Rally experience!!! Cause the riding basically sucks!!!! Lol!!!

Sounds like a lot of fun, thanks for taking the time to share. And you are right, the riding is not much, when you live within a hour of the smokies mountains.
