I THINK the Moto G2 speakers just came out so I don't know if folks have had much time to test them yet. I have been pleased with the first gen wdx6 in my fairing. I decided early on to stick with weather resistant speakers because of the high humidity area I live in. Maybe think about your riding style to help you decide. A lot of times when I am out riding my bike will be sitting outside in the sun and rain at events and stops.

I have heard folks say that if you don't like the weather in Ohio just wait five minutes and it will change.

I have not heard the new wdx G2's but I had a few sets of the old wdx's. I would get the hcx's hands down over the old wdx. SQ from the hcx's are better than the old wdx but not as loud. Personally I will take SQ over volume any day.

i havent found much on the DB drives but they always weather proof ..

I’ve found the hertz for $200 and the DB drives are like $350.
Im going to be ordering the stinger spx700x4 amp and the hertz sv165 for the lowers.
so which speaker will sound best with that amp?
Opposing opinions can possibly be a good thing so here goes. Based on the 2 speakers on ur list my ears are not really in the HCX fan club so I would hold off and see what dB Drive did w the WDX Moto Gen 2s.

A bud was kind enuff to send me a set this week to try out for my dragon's recliner / king TP. The water proof factor can be a pretty big deal for for the daily riders and road trips aa Mother Nature is just part of the experience for that type of rider or riding.

If dB did not make some aggressive changes to the screaming highs associated with the Gen 1 WDX, then I would honestly recommend continuing ur search.

Be patient brother!!!

Shoot I forgot about how loud the Motos can get. They can drown out the rest of the system with just a few watts. In looking at the pictures of the new Motos it almost looks like the tweeter is suspended in a non removable grill.

Maybe we can talk Marco into buying a set to test.

Hey y'all how do the Polk MM652s land as far as sound quality goes with what has been mentioned here? I've heard they don't sound as good as the Hertz but are marine rated.

thats the truth. I live 30 minutes from downtown Cleveland . It can be 90 and sunny the. 5 minutes later it’s 70 and storming . We get 70 degrees one day and 18 the next in winter. Crazy and i usually get caught in the storms.

I'm curious how these will sound. At one time the first gen wdx were a real bang for the buck as we all recommended them. You are right about the weather factor for the TP as I don't think the hcx will hold up over time without some intervention. This audio stuff is changing almost daily as manufactures are getting on board the better quality products specifically designed for motorcycles. New db designs, mmats, beyma are just a few that are doing it.

Man every time I think I’m set something changes lol. I’m trying to be patient but my problem is the longer I hold onto the funds I have set aside for this the more likely the wife will find something to spend it on lol. There is a shop down the road that specializes in car audio and they say they do about 200 Harley systems a year. They have been around since I was a kid so I guess they have some knowledge. Maybe I should go see what they are about and see what they would do. I never thought there would be this many choices out there . My brain is turning to mush. I know a big problem is my budget but I’m just looking for better not the best. But at the same time I want the best for my budget. The best bang for my buck if you will

Good sound
weather proof
quality

Most here would recommend you stay out of the shops and learn to do this yourself Alton. I understand your hesitation, a lot of us were like that at the start of our journey. The thing to remember is most shops that specialize in car audio and do bikes only do quick turn key systems that are louder than stock but do not always fit the customer's specific wish list.

You are smart enough to do this, I can tell just by the way you ask and respond to questions. Once you choose and order your gear folks here can talk you through the install. If you get stumped post a picture and a description of what you need to know and someone here can walk you through to the next step.

The thing to remember is anything you choose will be better than stock. Right now you are just trying to decide what icing you want on your cake so to speak. Once you get your basic system in and tinker with it you will learn what your ears like over time. What sounds awesome to the guy at the shop may make your ears bleed at 70 mph. When you assemble and tune things yourself you are arming yourself with knowledge that will pay off big time down the road.

Don't give up.

its not so much the install I’m worried about. I think I can handle that. I’m pretty good with that kind of stuf. I’m just concerned about picking the right components. The right speakers for the fairing and loweres and the right amp. I’ve been reading a lot and it’s all conflicting. One person says oh yeah get the hertz they are great and water won’t bother them and I’m like great I’ll get those then the next person says no hertz are not good and water will mess them up. Then I’m like well crap I don’t wanna waste money , not sure when I’ll be able to do this again. I’m just frustrated. And it’s not just this forum. I’ve been reading a lot and I’m getting no where.
i even read wear one guy said you can scotch bright paper speakers to make them waterproof....I have a hard time believing that wouldn’t mess up the sound quality........

But i do very much appreciate all the help and advice I’m getting from everyone. Guess I was just expecting to be like I have this much money this is what I want and people would be like well this is what you need so go buy it lol .....nothings ever easy
