OK guys I am looking for some help. I have a new to me 2012 road glide with stock factory sound. It is not really cutting it at highway speeds of 60-70 mph. I am looking to retain the head and upgrade speakers, amp and possibly dsp. I would like to stick to a fairing only set up. Wife won't allocate any space in the bags, and I have a factory custom paint scheme and prefer not to add lowers. I am just looking to get improved sound quality and useable volume level for normal cruising speeds. I have not set a fixed budget, but want to make a good choice I will be satisfied with.

Reason: added more info on budget
Members are going to ask you budget and listening/riding preferences but speaking for myself I put together a pretty good fairing-only system consisting of Hertz HCX 165 6.5" speakers ($149.99) and a Soundstream PN4.1000D amp ($139.99) and I am extremely happy with my setup and I retained my stock HU. The Hertz speakers can be pushed at high volumes and I love the sound quality, even at highway+ speeds. The Soundstream is a powerful budget amp but if you want to spend a little more out there the some members here can direct you to other amps which may give you better SQ. You will also probably need some speaker grills and I purchased some
If ur committed to only 2 speaker fairing setup then I would go into the higher tier Hertz speakers like the 1650. Biketronics has a speaker kit for the RGs, but I'm not a fan of their amps.
Get urself a nice micro like the Ground Zero Micro 4 or even the new NVX micro amp and bridge them for some very respectable power.
Ur budget will drive this process so get that number identified and it will all fall into place.
After studying many posts in this forum, I have decided I need to replace my HU( due to no preamp out), add an amp, and get new fairing speakers. New budget is $1600.00. I want good volume at 70 MPH, and good sound quality from an in fairing system. Lets hear suggestions.
