Maximizing existing fairing setup?
1. My first concern is the speaker pods. I gather that they lack the air volume that anything larger than factory can make use of. I see Biketronics makes a metal bracket, that eliminates the pods, thus allowing the speakers to move more air. Seems like this would improve the bass response, but would it be enough to justify the bracket's price tag?
2. Second idea is sound mat. Makes sense to me, that vibrations would hinder the speakers, so dynamat (or any sound damper material) on the insides of the outer fairing, would help. I see KlockWerks makes a pre-cut kit, but its not cheap {$189}. Would there be any concern over the sound mat trapping additional heat, and causing the Amp to overheat? Does the fairing have anyplace to vent that heat?
Summed up= would the $269 (biketronics brackets) + $189 (KlockWerks Dynamat) equal $458 worth of sound improvement? Would it effectively bring my overpriced Boom stage 2 to life, or be a waste?
Also very open to other acoustic suggestions to exploit the fairing system, so please fire away if you know something better! I don't know what I don't know.
Thanks in advance for the help.
