SO, I currently have a SoundStream PN4.1000D running my lids and lowers and a SoundStream PN4.520D running my midbass inside my bags. I am going to make the leap to a set of SounDigital 800.4's to replace the SoundStream amps. While I think the SoundStreams are a helluva bang for the buck and honestly think they sound good ..... who else has made the jump from SoundStream to SounDigital? I want to know your honest opinions on the improvements. Was the SQ that much better to justify the cost of the SounDigital amps? I am already running a DSR1 for tuning so I am not worried about them not having any crossover adjustments.

No doubt that higher end speakers require higher end amps. Although i have yet to try my SD 1200 amp, when i changed from the soundstream to JL amp, it was a night and day difference in sound quality
night and day difference. i used a SSpn100.4 as a high powered test amp(would bridge it when i thought i needed the power) the SD beat the **** out of it right from the jump. beat the most everything i had laying around. if you've got the DSP already you are good to go, be brave!

I myself started out with a soundstream PN4 1000D. Then I went to a HERTZ HDP4 which was a cleaner sounding amp and about the same warmth. Then I added a ARC 600.4 to the mix for my lid speakers which had a little more volume to the 2 previous amps but lacked the warmth. Then I switch everything to all SD and had tons of volume but seamed to lack the warmth I like. Then someone finally convinced me to try a JL amp which I really liked for the fullness and warmth. As of this point in time I am currently running 1 Jl amp and 1 SD 1200.4 which seam to be a dam good combo for my system. Giving me both the warmth/fullness and the volume/punch were it is needed
I went from the pn4s and Cerwin Vega Bomber series to all soundigital. I use a DSP and tune it off an RTA app (not the best tuning tool but its what I have soooo) and to me it was night and day difference. The SDs make more power in a smaller footprint, play louder with better clarity, and are an all around better amp.
Is it worth it to upgrade though? Thats something only you can decide. While it was louder and audibly clearer, at 80mph you cant hear the better. I only hear it when Im cranking it in a parked setting. It gets louder going down the road sure, but you cant hear the difference in clarity over the wind noise.
I like to hear it loud and clear going down the road and I like it to be stupid loud and clear if Im parked and showing off to someone but if not for that, it probably wouldnt be worth it.
