Default Speaker wire

I know there are many here that focus a lot of energy on amps, speakers, DSP's, etc as they build their unicorns - but is anyone focusing on speaker wires?
With home audio there is a plethora of different speaker wires and I know from personal experience, each will sound differently - some are harsh, some love the mids & others love the lows without changing their amp or speaker selections.
So my question here - does speaker wire matter and has anyone found that by changing their speaker wires, the sound has also changed?

I'm in the process of updating my Audio System on my 2012 Roadglide Custom and I purchased some NVX Professional Grade OFC from Amazon.
I bought their 4 GA for the leads coming from the battery terminals, their 8 GA for the AMPS and their 16 GA for the speakers.
The wiring appears to be very professionally constructed.

As a manufacturer I can say that we were using copper-clad aluminum speaker wire for some time and got decent sound. However, we recently switched to pure copper (OFC) and it is enough to notice a difference in sound quality. Also, it is much safer on a bike application since the pure copper has a much higher flash point....

From everyone I have been talking too, make sure its OFC and heard mainly 16 gauge for mids and tweets and 12 gauge if running subs

Thanks, this is what I was inquiring about - did you also notice any difference such as the gauge wire you were using based on speaker watts, speaker location (IE: run length to bags vs fairing) or other variables?

With the shorter runs you have on a motorcycle, length is not really going to be an issue. I would recommend 18 gauge as an absolute minimum, 16 being better. We build handlebar mounted motorcycle speakers so the largest we go is a 4" speaker.... Larger speakers, and subsequently more wattage, would benefit from even larger gauge wire.
