I have a buddy that wants to add rear speaker lids. Hes got a 16 SGS. And listens to mostly rock like Metallica, vol beat, FFDP and things like that. We generally ride above 65.
I keep telling him his fronts are distorting like crazy at speed, we have the same bike. He doesnt believe me though and just wants rears and doesn't want 8s or anything like that. Also no lowers
What u need help with is a cheap setup for the front I can talk him into. I was thinking for a budget setup:
Rockford Tms69bl14 for rears
Nvx vadm4
Amp wiring kit
Bt355
Should I just try to set him up with kappas?
Right now hes got the stock speakers is all.. and I know they're crap.. that's why I'm looking for some suggestions to have him through in to clean the sound up

Thanks for the help.
Brother, don't put a penny into any add ons until ur buds FRONT STAGE is in a damn good place.
I honestly think that is a very valid point, but he does not believe the fronts are ****. I can hear the poor sound when its parked and turned up myself, but just trying to get him something that will sound better while riding while budget friendly. Maybe I should just turn off my lowers and let him ride my bike for a bit and let him hear the difference.
I honestly believe that not everyone can hear the craptastic sound they have going on.
I fall into that category. The closest thing to a sled audio upgrade I have seen other than my own bike is my neighbor who swapped out his stock speakers for some Polks. Around here most folks can't afford a Harley to begin with, never mind buy one and then sink a ton of money into it. It would be nice to hear other speakers to know if I made good choices or not, but not everyone has that option.
Of course not everyone can walk out his door and shoot his guns whenever he wants to like I can either, so I guess there are pros and cons to every situation.

That's not really what I meant. I mean I've heard countless stereos that the speakers are obviously distorting and the amp gain is way the f$&k off and dude is like my **** pounds!
I have not heard even remotely as many as alot of you guys have. That's why I was asking for a couple recommendation. I dont feel it makes sense to open up the rears and run the rockford kit off of the head units weak watts. That will just make him pissed he paid for it. The NVX amp should have enough to push the rears and will blow the fronts if it's more than just cracked open anyways. So I was hoping to find a cheap decent drop in. Maybe he really cant hear the sound with the road noise, but just trying to help a brother out. I mean.. over half that setups $$ is just the kit

That little vad amp is pushing more like 90w per channel. Going back to your original post, the kappas will sound a ton better than stock speakers and that amp may push those tms69's enough to sound decent. tuning will make the difference. Hell give it a try.
