Hi my name is alfredo. Just bought a 2011 electra glide ultra Limited. I go pick it up tomorrow.an I would like to upgrade the audio SYSTEM by replacing stereo, an the 4 speakers. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Went from an 88 1200 sportster to this bike so I dont know much about what works good with the big bikes
Budget? 500 bucks Where do you want the speakers placed? Front fairing an in the tour pack pods. (I think that's what they are called)these are the only place that has speakers Type of music you listen to? Listen to hip hop Type of riding you do? Do know just got the bike Are you comfortable installing yourself? Yes I can install it my self
Any suggestions or ideas will be appreciated. New to baggers had an 88 sportster
Welcome Alfredo! So it looks like you want to upgrade the whole system. To do correctly, you will need to add an amp into the picture. With an amp, the $500 budget will not be feasible. Don't try to go real cheap as you will end up spending more down the road as all the regulars here can attest to.
So with that being said, A good HU, a solid 4 channel amp, 4-6.5 speakers (2 for the fairing and 2 for the tp), an amp wire harness, will get you where you need to be.
Suggestions:
Sony/ Kenwood HU with white background providing 5V preouts x4 $150-$200
Stinger spx 700x4 amp $300
Speakers are a personal choice but have heard good things about the new mmatts pa601cx for the fairing $200 set
Polks mm652 for the tp $200 set
wire harness $20 Amazon.
These are average prices but more realistic for what you need to do it right. Again these are just suggestions for a good sounding setup.
Ok them are great ideas. An prices . Do I have to buy all at once? Or can I buy head unit first, then amp, then speakers? Or some kinda order.just asking because the wife wont like it if I go spend another 1,000 bucks after spending 10,000 on the bike LOL.
Thanks for the help
I would second travlin gypsie's list, the only change i would make is to use 4 mmats PA 601.4cx's, 2 in the fairing and 2 in the t/p pods, other than that it's a solid list, you can start buying components as your budget allows, but you are going to want to do the complete install all at one time, as like the guys have mentioned, not everything will play with each other. Be patient and do it as best you can the first time, there are a lot of here to help. it really sucks to have to spend more money than you have to and to do work more than once.
