so as most here have done I believe i made a few errors in my choices of components. First one being my original HU purchase. Bought a cheap Pioneer media player. It seemed to do the job just barely but it worked for my budget at the time. It got wet and failed so i the purchased my current HU a Kenwood KDC-X502 . I hate this thing . Takes forever to connect to my phone and I simply cannot get things to sound good. has anyone tried this HU if so what were the EQ settings ? Or am I just wasting time and should just go purchase a 149 ?
current set up is SSPN4-1000d , Focals in the TP and components if the fairing
I have searched for the HU EQ settings but couldn't find the thread containing them
Scrapped the idea of keeping the Kenwood. I hate the thing and it’s slow to pick up my phone with Bluetooth. So I’m heading to the local shop to buy a new HU and a set of 6.5’s. With reading many threads the go to unit is the Alpine 149BT . Now I have seen that the shop has the pioneer 80PRS on sale for very close to the .149. With price being equal would you guys go for the pioneer unit? I kind of like the function of the pioneer over the Alpine but I’m definitely an amateur compared to most here. Speakers for the fairing I’m thinking of removing and installing a set of Hertz MPX1653 unless pushed in another direction. My budget has increased since my original build and ultimately would like to upgrade in the near future with a set of speakers in the lowers. So no more mistakes being made just want a simple good sounding system

thanks
The 149 is a nice unit, I ran it in my old bike with zero issues.
the place i found one had a "demo" for sale . Best they would do was $479.00. Didnt want to go down that route. would rather start from new but from phoning around all the good recommended decks are older models and hard to find here in Vancouver. Best i can get is the Alpine either Crutchfield or Amazon
Us Canadians definitely have a limited selection on sled audio. You might want to check out the Sony Marine HUs out there. Visions in Vancouver should carry them as well as possibly some of the other audio stores, or they can sometimes be found at the boat shops as they quite often carry some of the Marine HU's. Amazon.ca and Crutchfield may also have a few choices. Worst case I usually end up ordering stuff from Amazon.com or from where ever I can find stuff south of the border.
I'm currently running a couple year old MEX 70BT, and it works fine. Does have an eq built in for helping adjust sound as well.
