Adding lids and would welcome some advice,to compliment current setup.. Thinking ddvo's or mmats 690.3 Only 75w per channel on JL so probably underpowered, seems most 6x9's need minimum 140-150 watts pushing them. math doesn't add up. Is parallel wiring the four an option, if not i'm not opposed to upgrading the JL for something with same footprint like the SD800.4 144wx4@4ohm at 14.4 v or something similar. Have speaker lids and already wired for them just need to fill in the blank. I've read don't mix and match too many types of speakers so trying to keep a PA type system, though not sure that's what I have. Would the Hertz MPX or CPX mesh with current. setup read good things about the mpx. This will be last upgrade so want to do it right. Help
Current setup below
2016sgs( Interstate mostly w/loud classic rock)
DDAW's w/ At28 bridged off GZ500micro in fairing (sound fabulous finally)
Mmats PA 601.4 in lowers off 1&2 on JLXD/400 3&&4 for lids??
DSR-1
Flashed for 0/4 by HD
DDAW's on shelf for option in lowers
I have the DD VOs and love them. That SD 800.4 has a 2 ohm and 4 ohm model. One of them can bridge at 2 ohms at over 500 watts. I have thought that doing this on two channels, and turning it down to say 400 watts would keep headroom on the amp and leave two more high powered channels.
go with the Mmats, they wont need as much power as the DD's, talk to travlingypsie for his review, but most of the time i find that i agree with his reviews on the things that we have both tried out. just do one set in the lids first and see if it's enough.

I have a set of dd vo's, a set of cpx and a set of mpx sitting on the shelf & will probably be up for sale if I don't use them in an install. Those mmats pa690.4 cx are in the bike. They don't need a lot of power to get loud and they pound. Currently running them off 3/4 of a stinger and I really like the sound of them. I suggest trying them in the lids by themselves and see what you think.
I think it is worth a shot. I ran the DD AWs and tweets off the front channels of an XD400/4 and some Polk MM692s off the rear channels and it sounded good. Not as loud as when I bridged the XD to the AWs but good.

Hell give it a try. I'm thinking it will as that jl is under rated anyway.
That JL paired with MMats is a really good sound to me, I think the MMats are a great speaker with vocals and a nice warm sound. Not the loudest but a good speaker. Some may disagree.
They also get pretty loud with the 75 watts from that JL amp, you will need a Tweet or Horn to help them out though.

You wont if you get the cx series as they are a coax with the tweeter already.
