The Scosche adapters were recommended by DD Customs. The SoundQubed didn't look a lot bigger than my HCX I pulled out. Anyone else run into issues with either the Scosche adapters or SQ speakers (I don't hear a lot of guys running those)?
Just did some measuring (should have done that before I posted).
The HCX and SoundQubed are exactly the same height so the adapter shouldn't be the issue. The magnet on the SQ is 4 5/8" diameter vs 3 3/4" for the HCX. I guess that is making a difference.
Use play doh to find out where your issue is. Ball it up, stick it to anything that might be a culprit and see where it's ACTUALLY hitting. Once you know where the problem is, you can make the proper accommodations. Been a few times where the fairing didn't fit and I thought is was "x" but it was really "y". The clay won't lie.
One thing a lot of us do is to remove the headlight from the outer shell and feel around. If you find the magnets touching maybe you could try a different set of speaker adapters (possibly Metra?) or maybe shave down the ones you have somehow.
send the speakers back and pick up a different set. I had the exact situation. Find a set that fits. It's not like Sound Qubed is the be all-end all of 6.5' pro audio speakers. There are lots of other options that will accomplish the same task and allow you fairing clearance.
It's definitely the speakers. I pulled them out and the fairing went back on as normal.
I'm about to bail on this entire project and convert to a Road King with a JD Customs FXDXT fairing. LOL

I am currently running the exact same soundqubed speakers in my fairing on my 2006 Electra glide and I am not having any issues like you are saying. You hit a bump, maybe a cracked adapter !
