Exactly in the last 2 years we have heard some properly tuned 8.8s and some that werent. Comes down to tuning as SBates, DsmLimited and cshockers are three bikes that have proven that.
If I can get in there and drill the hole without taking the whole thing apart, I'll hook them up. I'll have to run them in parallel left/right with the fronts. That gives them 50 watts each.
The Rockville products are damn good In my opinion. I've ran the RM84 with great success. They kicked *** in the lids
I was just reading these posts and wondered why you hadnt mentioned these? How much power were you sending the RM84s? They were awesome when you were at my place last year
Voodoo lids w 880s!!!! A dude with that setup just smoked like 20-something sleds at the BRF sound off. Just sayin!!!

I would have to agree that the 880s when powered and tuned is a great lid speaker.
As for smoking "20 some bikes" at BRF it was NOT a competition based MNG. None of the bikes were put into categories and the sound off was as it has been in the past a "SOUND OFF" showing off your system may it be a 2 speaker fairing set up or a multi amp, mulit speaker set up and the owners tuning abilities for their said system.

Back to the discussion of the 8 inch lids thread.
That's strange!!! How do u award a trophy and playoffs & stuff without a competition?
Back to the 880s, only potential drawback is that they just don't survive real well in competition circuit world. But this ain't a comp circuit site so prob not even a concern for most.

You know as well as I do if the MNG was competition based (as some had wanted it to be this past winter) the bikes WOULD have been put into categories.BUT it was NOT.
You as others know that the MIDWEST MNG traveling trophy goes to the best sounding system with a majority vote.

Back to the lids
Ok, I get it now. No competition but a sound off and play off and trophy. And SBates w 880s in the lids took second place in the non-competition event with 20 plus bikes in attendance participating in the non-competition sound off.
Back to my fuxxing point, the 880s are no damn joke OP. If u can mirror that sound in some manner, it's a damn good place to be. Just a mid back there is a very long way from mirroring the 880s. Maybe take the lids off, drill the holes out, drop those horns, get independent juice going to the horns & mids if possible, and tune the shix out of them.
If ur not gonna do that now, develop a plan that gets u there somewhere in the near future.

I think I had maybe 150 to them. And I agree, they're a great sneaky speaker that flies under the radar for many people shopping the brand names. I can play them down to 80 hz with some good thump and loud clean vocals.
