Default Removing 15+ road glide pods.

Local guy by me removed the pods on his bike to fit his amps. Anyone else have success in doing this? I'm really interested in doing this but on this build he has 8" speakers for his fairing. I'm content with the stock hole size lol. I can tell he has the bracket to remove the highway bars. Other than that everything is custom. If you remove the pods I've heard mixed opinions on losing structural integrity. I feel that losing the pods, you lose rigidity. So I'm looking to do something similar to this.

I don't know why people removing those pods. Put your amps to saddlebags or beerbox. Leave the pods, find great speakers for this pods and enjoy nice midbass with deep and hard punch in the chest.
I guess it's kinda Crowd psychology or something.

I don't want to take up space in my bags or tour pack. I already plan on putting 10s in the bags and 8s in the lid. I can save room by putting all my amps and dsp in the fairing that's the best place for me and the wiring is mostly centralized. It's the most ideal for what I want.

I wont speak to removing the pods because I haven't done it yet but I know a few shops have posted pics just like yours above. If you go to an amp mount from lex you can fit a bunch of power in the fairing without removing the pods. I'm with you I try to keep my amps in the fairing.

I have his amp rack already. It only fits my sd1200. I have a dsi-2 which is large in its own respect. I can't fit it anywhere with the amp in there. I also have a SD 250 that I will be shaving down the case and mounting it underneath the radio. That's not too big of an issue.

I currently have a 250 under the radio, an 800 on the rack, a 250 on the front lip off the rack on a 45*, a psm between the pod and rack on the left, distribution blocks on the right between the pod and cubby. I'm adding another 800 now. I'm also switching to the DD dsp which is going where my distribution block are now

If you have lexs rack, I couldn't fit the dsi-2 in the pod area. The 1200 is a bit taller than the 800,that's why I have to trim the 250 down. Also my horns are on the 45* lol.

Yeah I meant on a 45* behind the radio by the outer fairing. Well I haven't started on mine yet but I'm planning on putting the dsi in between the pod and rack so I hope it fits! Lol
