I recently moved to PA, and this has forced me to use the onboard GPS of '17 SGS more than I ever have. I used it seldom in the past basically because I just don't like it. I have never updated the maps, and I am finding that it is just not cutting it here when I actually need it. I started looking to touchscreen options with apple car play, but it seems the best option (sony xav-x5000) is not marine grade. I do a decent amount of long weekend rides, and I get caught in the rain way more than I would prefer, but it is what it is.

So I am hoping maybe someone out there can point me in the direction of an aftermarket unit with apple carplay that is also marine grade, or other suggestions to get what I want/need.

 

There is supposed to be a new Sony 7000 unit coming out thats water resistant. Have you looked at that?

 

Negative. I likely have not seen it. Most of what I find over and over again is the one mentioned above. I will have to look into it. Thank you.
