Default Stereo Help

I am new to the forum, and need some help. I know I am probably beating a dead horse, I need some stereo advice. I have a 2013 flhtp, police edition electra glide. I bought it without having a stereo system in it. I installed a kicker amp and 6.5 front speakers, with a kenwood head unit, that was supposed to be marine grade. Everytime I washed the bike the stereo would not work for 2-3 days, then come back on once dried out. It has been 3 weeks since the last bath and still has not come back on. I have done everything I could to dry it out without any luck. Time to replace the stereo, what is a good system to replace it with that won't have to worry about not being able to wash my bike. The amp and speakers still work, just need a new stereo. Thanks for the suggestions.

First, welcome to the forum. I see you are in Indiana. Where in Ind are you? Since you keep getting the head unit wet, when you replace it, get a wet cover for it so you don't need to replace it again. Second, when washing the bike, keep water away from the hu. I just finished a 4 speaker install on a police bike with fairing and lids. Although it didn't have thumb controls, the hu has a remote and it sounded damn good. You can also wrap the new hu in plastic wrap to help keep it from getting wet. BTW I never take a hose above the tank on my bike.

Currently putting together a stereo on my 2011 FLHTP and wondering how you did the install in the police lids. Did you change hinges and hardware for new lids, diy, or kit?

I had replaced my lids and bags with some I found that were for a standard eglide. The speakers I had wouldn't of looked right with the flhtp lids due to the hockey pucks on top. They would of went right up to them so I just replaced them.

The RF kit fit the police lids and I attached the lid wire to one of the screws on the speaker mounts. If you can find a set of stock lids, that would work/look better.

Thanks for the replies guys. I believe I will look into finding a replacement set of bags for the speaker upgrade.
