Wondering how much difference DSP tuning of horns makes.
Do guys spend much time with frequencies and Q factors and x-overs and gains for a set of horns in fairing? Or are you just rolling them in about where your other speakers roll off?
I really never hear anyone talk about tuning for horns. Maybe it's a simple one and done or does adjusting them affect the overall SQ?
Horns should be crossed where your mids cross on the high side. Ideally there should be a seamless transition from mid to horn. So there will be some volume cut on the Horns as they will most likely be louder/ more efficient than the woofer. The passive crossovers do this easily. But, with the DSP you should have them both crossed at the same FZ and slope. Linkwitz would be ideal.
Also, see that little bump on the Butterworth? This seem to sound better on the low end of you band pass too. Works well with subs and low playing midbass drivers like the RS350 and most other midbass speakers that we use for bass.

And unless ur running an 8/2 flash on the Boom HU you really should NEVER be using Butterworth for HFs. That last thing u want is a 3db bump.
I think these guys answered your question! But, your ears like Butterworth? Why pose a question if you already know what you want? I think that is what got these guys all bent out of shape over my MMAT post.
Corey, go back and look at the thread AD posted up about the OEM HU curves. IIRC, u have the 4/0 flash without a BT355 thus are getting a massive bump in the EQ curve in the bass-midbass range thus Butterworth potentially adds another 3db bump to that.
I think u might be pleasantly surprised if u tried the Link and moved the crossover & slopes a bit as a result.
But as stated above, really look at ur pictorial EQ curve and not only check the impact of butter vs link but also factor in the hidden bump that the HU prides in ADentons thread. Then throw some pink and an RTA on it to see where u are vs where u think u are.
With 8' of snow piked up outside, time is on ur side so give some of these other strategies / suggestions a whirl.
Oh, and PRV 6.5 in Portuguese translates to Boat Anchor in English. Just sayin!!!
