oscilloscope, ears and common sense such as not going more than 75-80% higher on the head unit etc etc

Bringing this back around. Besides my ears, is there a way/tool to pinpoint where the frequency dial is on an amp? The stinger in particular has two numbers on it, 40 and 400, and is a smooth dial without "clicks". The technical part of my brain wants to know exactly where 80 or 100 hertz is, if possible. Thanks

If I’m not mistaken I think that’s what the SMD crossover calibrater does.

It's an ohms law thing. If you tune to distortion limit then drop the voltage the current goes up, no way around it. Amps have devices in them that have a current threshold that when exceeded will cause distortion in the output.

I don't believe it's a huge factor on a sled. It's just something to be aware of. Now 10K watts on 4 15's I would worry that in a bass race or long demo that my coils will be getting hot as well as my amps.
