Hi all. Just a quick question here. My 2005 Electra Glide does not have Sirius or XM built into the radio unit itself... Since this was an Electra Glide Standard when I purchased it, I added the Sony System that is currently on the bike many years ago.. Would a Sirius stand alone unit work with my radio, thumb controls, wiring, antenna, etc. ? Anyone have the best way to go here to install an XM/Sirius unit on my bike. I have Sirius in my truck and love channel 6 which is the 60's and want it for my riding days ahead. Would it be easier to just find a new radio system that already has the XM/Sirius already built into it ? Of course it would have to fit my opening in the faring. A few pictures to show what size dimensions I will be dealing with..... Thanks for any help out there.

The cheapest and probably better sound quality option is to use the xm app on your phone. Use the aux input on the radio from your phone output.
As long as you have cell service. About a third of the time I am riding in my neck of the woods there is no cell service. If it weren't for the monthly fee I would consider XM myself.
Wow .. That is a thought I never had. As you know West Virginia is a lot like your state. A lot of hills and mountains. Thanks for this heads up. You have a very good point here.
WV it might be a good excuse to upgrade your head unit to one that will accept a known good XM tuner. A lot of them these days do. Some users here have had good luck with the Sony MEX-M100bt head unit which claims to accept an XM tuner and has great audio features: Sony MEX-M100BT Marine CD receiver with Bluetooth
From what I gather this is the XM tuner that goes with that head unit: SiriusXM SXV300V1 Tuner
Great forum. I'm new here but you guys are great. That is what I need so it seems. I will make sure before ordering but you seem to have done the leg work for me. A BIG THANKS !!!! my forum friend.
You are welcome WV. I forgot to mention that this head unit supports Sony's SongPal app that allows you to set everything with an app on your phone. Really makes it easy to adjust the EQ, high pass filter, and tons of other stuff. I used it to add apps on my phone so they could be played easily through the head unit. I have Sony head units in two of my trucks and can control them both using the same SongPal app. It just senses whichever one is powered on and connects to it.
I have the sirius app on my phone and my wife's phone. When I ride I have it connected to my bluetooth headset. I learned that you can set the channel to go back one hour, so that can help with signal issues. I have not tried it as I have decent reception in my riding area and I have my phone set to connect to spectrum hotspots in my area automatically saving me data usage and allowing me to get use in more areas.
