That amp will allow you to run bag lids in the future if you choose. I would try the 6x9's if I were you, nothing to lose. You can get the lids for a couple of hundred. already to go. When you install the amp run the extra speaker wire for the bags and coil it up and stash it under the seat and in the fairing. Save you some work later.

The hole is for the magnet as it wont fit in the pod. you can seal it up with duct tape or dyna mat if you want. Order the speakers marine coated. It is a nice sounding system.

You can order the mmats speakers marine treated. You can also spray camp dry on them every so often,

But OP is asking about an amp he already has. Are you willing to buy another amp as well? FB is suggesting the stinger 700 amp which currently is a pretty good amp for 200 bucks. I'm running the 605 mmats speakers in my faring with the mmats 690cx 6x9 speakers in my lids with that stinger amp. I love it.

On the RG you will need to cut reliefs on your fairing speaker pods or heat them up and reshape them in order for those speakers to fit. You'll also have to flip them upside down.

Your speaker pods inside the fairing will need a hole cut in it to allow clearance for the speaker magnet. It can be covered back up with some dynamat to help seal up the speaker pod again.
The Mmats 601.cx can be ordered with the weather proofing and are a great speaker. I have 4 of them on my bike as well.

I'm also running that same stinger amp as well. Great combo with that amp and the Mmats speakers.
