Trying to help my buddy with his sound system on a 18 Road King Special. He has bought lowers and is only willing to do speakers in the pods nothing in the bags or tourpack, what would be a good speaker choice for around $200 or so ?
We have a few different amps laying around but he wants to use the SD600.1 due to its size, he travels a lot and wants the system to take up as little space as possible.
Yea i have moto 6.5s on my bike but i wasnt sure if that was the best option for a lower only bike. I have motos in my fairing and lowers and also have 8s in the bags.
The Mmats 601.4cx is quite often a fan favorite and would probably work in this case as well, but I would be tempted to pick the DB Moto Wdx6 G2's over the Mmats.
I've noticed the tweeter in the G2's are a little less directional from the lowers and s little more forgiving as far as aiming the speaker from the lowers. I have built a beveled spacer for behind the speaker in my lowers which only changes the angle by about 1/8" but it helps direct the highs towards the rider position better.
As a 2 speaker system, you will want as much volume as you can get at highway speeds. The DBs will handle more power, and will play louder than the Mmats will from the lowers.

Just curious, do you have the DB Moto WDX8s in your bags?
And how do you like them? Are they able to keep up to your other DBs up front when you are at highway speeds or do the get lost in the wind?
The issue I see with the Moto's is the highs. I am guessing that he will be sending the signal bluetooth to the amp from a phone or using a Ipod. Neither will allow much control to tune. I would look at something warmer.
