Default Half-decent sound with speakers ONLY in the saddlebags?

I'm likely to get flamed for this amongst the audiophiles on here. And I couldn't find anyone else who has done the same (which perhaps should tell me something?) But here goes!

I ride a 2013 fatboy and have put glide-style hard saddlebags on (using softail bagger brackets). I'm thinking off adding sound, and only expect to be able to hear in around town speeds. But I don't want to mount speakers up front and spoil the lines of the softail. (Plus, I run 16" apes so speaker mounting would be awkward as well as ugly af.)

Is there 6x9 option that will give me half-decent sound as a standalone speaker in the saddlebag lids? If there's part of the range missing when just using a 6x9, is there another speaker I can mount alongside in the lids to make up for it?

I'm in the UK, so US-only speaker models are likely to be prohibitively expensive once I add in shipping+taxes.

Many thanks for any help/abuse you can give

There are a ton of 6x9 options out there... Hertz, MMats, Hybrid Audio, Ground Zero (7x10)... but you are right, you aren’t going to really hear any of them rolling down the road. They are a great enhancement/ad-on to speakers in front of you, but I don’t think I’d bother as the only speakers. Have you thought about putting lowers on? You could mount the amp in your saddlebag and get some sound in front of you instead of behind you.

I used to have crash bars on. Had to sell them when I switched to forward controls as they no longer fit. Insurance company didn't like them either (apparently if you hit them, they have to assume that the frame would have been twisted, so write the bike off -- so insurance costs go up, not down!) I decided I preferred the look without anyway. Similarly, don't like extra clutter on the handlebars/trees. So that kind of eliminates any front mount options.

Thanks for the comment though -- kind of confirms that I shouldn't start spending money on this idea as I'm unlikely to ever be happy with the result. Shame though.

I had a 2017 Road King. I put 4 8” Cervin Vegas in and it sounded better than a home entertainment system sitting still. I could hear it well around town (and so could everyone else), but on the highway it was a muted barely hear the music disappointment. You could do something like that around town, but 6x9s would be an expensive disappointment I’m afraid.
