I don’t believe wiring will be an issue. I’m not planning 3 pairs just 2. Hertz are in the fairing getting about 150 watts each. Mmats are parallel and bridged in the lowers sharing about 230 watts. amp is 2 ohm stable so if I decide to put them in the lowers they can have their own channel and get about 150 watts each.
Original plan was to get 2 Mmats 601cx for the fairing but can’t go to border to pick up and shipping costs to my door are ridiculous.
Found a set of hcx’s locally and figured I’d give em a whirl.
thanks again for all the input.

I got those knock offs for less than $20 shipped and screws were included.
thanks Hoyt, got them from a member. They do look great but are held in place by pressurefit. The pods have a spacer in the speaker recess to bring them out from flush and then grill goes over top. Have to carefully pry against pods to lift them off....but they are color matched and do look pretty good.

I'd pull those MMats and run the Kappas in a heartbeat. The old pa601's just never did it for me and I always felt those Kappas performed really well. No brainer IMO.

Forgot you were North of the border like I am. No doubt the Shipping direct from Mmats was steep.
If I remember right, I think I was able to offset the shipping a little by adding an extra set to the order. Don't think my shipping cost went up much. So if you can find a couple buddies looking for some Mmats, it helps a little with the shipping. Plus I think our exchange rate has improved a little.
Wasn't sure if you had anything else hooked up to rear speakers.
If it's just the 2 pairs, you should be fine on the wiring then.
Just based on wattage going to your lowers and speaker efficiency, I suspect your Mmats will be louder.
I've never tried just a mid-range speaker from the lowers, but I have ran the Mmats coax, and the DB Moto G2s in the lowers. The tweeter on the Mmats coax were fairly directional, where as the DB tweeter blends better, and isn't as directional. I'll be curious how the Coax Kappas sound compared to your Mmats mids.
When I mention directional, I noticed the highs coming from the Mmats tweeters were more or less pointed at my shoulder. When I crouch down, I can hear the highs come though more. Based on that, I made a bit of a wedge for my lowers to try and angle the DBs when I installed them. When you are doing your testing with your kappas, you may want to try and crouch down a little, or lean back to see if the tweeter is hitting your listening sweet spot.

I've never tried the PA601 mids, but I always liked my old kappas. If 1 of them hadn't quit working on me, I'm sure I would have still been using them somewhere on my bike. They definitely sounded good in the fairing with the SS amp.

Bates I'm still running those old Mmats PA 601.4s in my lowers. I don't dislike them because I have them tuned with a DSP, but am open to upgrading them sometime in the future. I've got all the highs I need from the other six speakers, but I wonder these days are there better coax speakers than mids used to be to run down there? I mainly want to produce mid bass from that location, what little a 6.5 can produce.

The Kappas have been such good performer for me that I couldn’t put them on the shelf. Moved them to the lowers in place of the mmats.
kappas each getting about 150 on its own channel. Both Kappas and Hertz crossed at 100.
sounds awesome sitting still, we’ll see how it sounds on the road.

i figured it would sound ok, as long as you can get enough volume out of those Kappas to keep up out in the wind.
