Ira it's usually really easy to reset that Metra module. Sometimes when I clear the bluetooth cache on my phone and it reconnects it will disappear like that. All I have to do is pull the main fuse under the side cover (clutch side) for a few seconds and it will then show back up on the display as an option and work fine.
I know this is an older thread but I just started having problems with my Metra Saddle Tramp after a couple of years trouble free. It too (BT) disappears from the radio screen and I have to pull the 15 amp radio fuse on the clutch side and reinsert it to get it to come back.
Bike and set up:
2011 Ultra with stock HK Radio and Hogtunes 352 XLR and 352XLF. I also use the Metra USB to charge my phone. No amp yet and I ran the Metra Power to the headlight. Any ideas what might be going on?
I seem to recall the only times I had my Metra disappear from the display was when I was monkeying with the Bluetooth settings on my phone. If I left them alone it usually stayed put. Just a thought, have you tried clearing the bluetooth cache on your phone? I've straightened out some bluetooth issues in the past by doing that.
If it reappears when you pull the fuse and plug it back in it makes me think wiring may not be the issue. Sounds like the unit is just "locked up" so to speak.
I have not cleared the cache on my phone only removal of the fuse and replacement, which brings BT right back. Should note the fuse is intact when I remove it. I did take the batwing off looking for a wire problem and replaced a few connections but nothing apparent and the problem persists. I will try clearing the blue tooth on the phone and see if it takes care of the problem. Otherwise I may be looking for advise on a water proof/resistant radio replacement with BT

Hi Tholt
Sorry, I spend more time reading this site than logging in. No I have not found a solution. I will pull the bike from storage soon and again remove the batwing and search all wires for a nick. Last year i checked all connections and they were all good. I am thinking about pulling the HDBT and replacing the radio with the Aquatics. Still convincing myself on the radio.

If I were seriously thinking of replacing my head unit I'd consider the Rockford. If I remember correctly the specs are a little better than the Aquatic and you can also put all your music on an iPod and have it plugged into the USB port for when you don't feel like fooling with your phone. Also when I got a chance to play with one at a dealership I noticed that it seemed to have level adjustments for each individual source which is a really nice feature. A lot of times Bluetooth may not be as full sounding as other sources. If that turns out to be the case you could bump up the input volume to compensate.
Looking at the Rockford as an option as well. Good to know that you have had a good experience. I do like the idea of keeping the original HU but it's pretty limited. Another thought is having Iron Cross change it to BT. At the end of last riding season, I gave up on the HDBT and used the Aux. Only issue with that is not being able to control the songs from my handles bars.
