I had what OP is describing. HD amp doesnt work with AX7000, and HD bag lids are 5x7 Boom 1. I ran my Boom1speakers for a while, while looking to upgrade. I just redid my speakers (with Sony installed), Put in Polk marine speakers, made a real difference over Boom 1 (front and rear). I did have to cut out the basket on the lids, the new speakers were deeper than the Booms. I dont have an amp on them, but know it could be better yet if I did install one again. BTW, Boom 1 speakers are 2ohm, most accessory speakers are 4. Sony HU will switch for them automatically.

They worked with HU internal amp alone, no issues. Could see the adjustment for 2 ohm speaker in Settings. Distorted just a bit when trying for enough volume for 70mph. A bit weak on bass response too, although road and wind affect that greatly in my limited experience.
