I have 2014 Ultra limited, currently running Arc 125.2 amp, line leveler,Infinity Kappas up front. The tour pack pods are stock. Sound is ok when parked, but at speed music (USB, radio, phone) is distorted beyond recognition.
Will have to do upgrades incrementally. Where should I start?
Is the amp still relevant? I do have an RF PBR 300x4 in the garage Are there better reasonably priced amps?
What about speakers? I saw mention of MMATs, are they better?
Do I bother upgrading rears? I though they were mainly good at slow speed and didn't do much at cruising speed

Thanks for any suggestions,
Your current set up is actually a good set up. You should not be getting distortion beyond recognition . . . lol There are some other issues you have going on there. A couple things. Did you get the bike flashed? What line leveler are you running? If the bike has not been flashed you need the BT line leveler but the best option is to get the rockford flash and use a Pac-35 line leveler. I'd start there.
Bike has not been flashed an I'm running the BT line leveler. I haven't heard of the other line leveler, I'll have to look into it.
The speakers are over 3 years old and I'm wondering if weather conditions have taken a toll on them.
I'd say the speakers are good. The weakest part of your system is the ARC amp. You should be okay with the BT line leveler and no flash. I've installed quite a few 14 and up bikes with only the BT line leveler and no flash and they sounded pretty damn good. The Rockford flash with the Pac-35 sounds much better though. I'd start with replacing that amp with either a Stinger SPX700X4 or a NVX VADM4 Both amps with sound good on the infinity's.
I will add to this. I ran the kappa 62ix's for about a year paired with an SS amp. They sounded MUCH better than stock. I had one go out and they were replaced under warranty, but I didn't trust them then, so I thought why not upgrade everything. So I went with the stinger amp and mmats 601cx up front. World of difference. I realized how um warm those kappas were. Then once I added some 6x9 mmats in the lids, I was very happy. Sounds was incredible and way loud enough to hear at any speed.
Well you guys were right on the amp being my problem. I tightened all the connections and tuned the amp gain according to the sticky thread and it made a world of difference. Still may upgrade later but at least now plenty of volume and I can understand it.

What are the 6x9 Mmats you out in? My polk 6x9s just took a ****. Ive got BT in my fairing, which I like. But need to decide on new life speakers. What did you pay and where did you get them?
If yah have a RF amp then stick with RF all the way. The components just work and sound hellA bad *** when it all comes together. I have the PBR400x4d and there is so much you can do with this amp. Run two subs on the rear channels bridged and run multiple speakers on the front channels as long as they are wired correctly to match the amps ohms. I have two RF Punch P1692 6x9 run off the rear channels bridged. Plus I have 4 RF 5x7 mounted two on top of boxes and two facing forward on the front of the hard bag.. so a total of 6 speakers and this amp has no quit in it. let me say this also. they have a built in C.L.E.A.N system in the amp that will identify if the signal is clipping coming in and you can adjust it and going out. so I would say that Amp wise to me there is none that can hold a candle to Rockford Fosgate! Firm believer in there products. Speaker wise you will anti up for the T series but if you want a crystal clear sound and one that wont distort, Spend the money on the Power series speakers. I have had very good luck with the power series speakers in the past. I also rock one sub in my truck, a T2D4125 and let me tell you, this sub is 66lbs and when it hits it will make your neighbors wife come a calling to have a demo in the truck. lol. I have the one sub setup and I cracked my windshield in my F150 all the way across. They are no joke but it came with a hefty price tag. If memory serves me correct it was either 1200 or 1500 dollars many years ago. but I have been bumping that sub and really giving it some abuse for years on a 1000 watt RF amp. and its rated at 2500 max.... I wouldn't be able to sit in it with that much power hooked up to it. anyway. just bragging on Rockford, the PBR400x4d i think and dont quote me runs about 220 through RF website, the power series are a bit more but Well worth the money spent. Plus they have a great technical support live chat system. whatever you decide let me know. But i rock my 6x9 punch and they arent a marine grade speaker, and before it gets said, I am no fairweather rider, My Harley Road King is all i owned for transpo for over 4 years... and I just make sure to cover them if i think its going to rain with leather top covers and dont jam it when its raining and make sure If they do get damp I wait it out. its what i could afford at the beginning of this Virus crap. Bartender here so the wonderful Governor can kindly, well we all know where i am going with this. okay enough of my rambling. Peace
