Default Audio upgrade with expansion ability?

I have a 2020 Road Glide Limited. I'd like to start off by upgrading the front speakers and adding an amp.

Eventually, I'll replace the tour pak speakers and add saddel bag speakers. I'd like to have the ability to remove the tour-pak as well. I've been told that removing tour-pak is tricky with the Boom audio upgrade?

As far as budget, lets go with $1500 or so for front?

You could easily upgrade with front, tour pack and amp for less than $1500. Adding lid speakers gets expensive (lids, paint, speakers, amp). All depends on what you're looking to get out of it.

I listen to mostly metal/rock. I want clarity and volume and a little bass (is it even possible?) when cruising.

For that budget, the stinger/mmats combo is very doable. You could get the amp and 2 pairs of speakers with LL for around less than a grand.

Doing the install yourself?

Never ran a tour pack, but i've seen where ppl add some weather proof connectors like the
deutsch connectors deutsch connectors
to make the tour pack easily removed.

Running 6 speakers off of the Stinger maybe an issue. Running the fronts and Tour Pka in parallel will mean that everytime you remove the tour pak you have to reset the gains. If you are set on that I would add a 2nd amp to make things easy.

Agreed. But two pairs of 601cx and the stinger would work for fairing and tour pack.

My question is how simplistic does this system need to be? If you're capable of tuning with a DSP (or learning), your budget dictates a FAR better, more advanced fairing setup than the Stinger and MMats combo folks keep throwing out on every post.

Here's what I see as a possibility for an upgrade later system.

1. Go to a techno research dealer and get your head unit flashed. $50

2. Soundigital 1200.4 evox to power fronts and later TP pods $750

3. Faital 6HX150 coax for fairing - $480

4. Soundigital SD250 to power tweeters on faitals - $150

5. DD DSI -2 DSP - $300

This system will give you 300 watts to each faital. They are an excellent speaker. It will also allow ample power for the tweeters (only need about 20-30 watts). It will also allow for expansion for 2 more speakers in TP in the future.

Fitment is doable but would work out a TON better with an XEL Customs amp tray to give you a lot of real estate.

With a good tune, the 8/2 flash, and that power you'll be very pleased. All those prices are retail, you may be able to get some deals on it if you shop around. But that is a super solid fairing system, however it is slightly over your budget at retail.

There will be a few mods to make to pods for fit of the faitals, but nothing a heat gun or a dremel can't make work. Add in about $100 for wiring and you're set.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.
