Default removing audio controls

has anyone removed the radio controls from the handlebars when installing apes / customizing in general? Was this the worst decision of your life or not really that bad?

I have a 93 and its possible to keep controls with the aftermarket head unit and apes but its getting pricey! Looking for some feedback on whether I should keep them or not.

There is a pin connector from the wires to the switch on the Rushmore models - no big deal

well, its not that simple unfortunately because when you go aftermarket, you need the biketronics retro radio kit. BUT...you have to upgrade the connectors to the 94-95 style which reorganizes the connector configurations. Then when you add the fact that hill country customs prewired kits don't have radio control provisions, I started thinking about removing the controls. But I opted for their basic kit (bars, cables, and wires that I must pull through the bars) because any other option meant more money and less functionality.
