Default Speaker Blown!

So, I’ve had my ‘18 street glide with stage II saddlebag speakers for one year now. I replaced the right speaker because it was blown, now the left is blown. Is it worth replacing with another stage II or go with something else? First one I bought on eBay for $100.

You can keep replacing the crappy boom speakers and keep a bad system, or you can spend a little more money and get a system that's reliable and you can hear and actually sound good as well.

I see potentially two issues with this speaker...

Boom II speakers are two ohm, this is a 4 ohm speaker. You would be cutting the power going out to each speaker by half using this set.

The other issue is the wiring - Boom II speakers are bi-amplified and have two connectors going to each speaker. It looks like this set of speakers has a passive crossover network though so it may be possible to make the wiring work.

You can replace the boom 5x7's with a set of RF tms57's. They are direct plug and play and have the same connector as the woofer on your stage II. You will just plug the woofer side into the tms 57 and leave the tweeter unplugged. Those speakers are coax and will separate the frequencies on their own. I have done this to 3 of my buds cvo's with success and the tms's are bullet proof with the weak boom amp and sound better too. .

There is a lot of great advice here, but my first time around, i had a local outfit do the work for me. Like the OP, I replaced a speaker, and another went bad. I decided to stop the Boom II madness and put in a good quality aftermarket setup. I had some issues recently with one of the speakers, and the fellas that put it in handled it.

They come up for sale quite often in the Audio for sale forum and at a much better price. Many ppl buy the lid kits from RF and replace the speakers with something better.

Cheaper than boom, sound better and wont blow. Yea they are a bit pricy but they work on cvo/ boom II stock setups.
