Please help
Good afternoon all. I found a killer deal on a 6.5 to upgrade my 2017 ultra limited. Installed unit easily as I have mechanical experience. Issue I’m having is that the unit will not communicate with the bike and the Harley tech couldn’t flash or fix the issue. The unit will power on, sometimes, and other times requires me disconnecting my right handlebar control plug (located just below the main HU plug) to turn on the unit. It will not turn on in this situation by pressing the power button, there is no response. I have attempted a reset of the unit within the program, updated to current software/firmware version, erased old trouble codes and reset the fuse. Has anyone ever experienced this and what can I do to make the unit work as advertised. I am not interested or looking to go aftermarket at this time as I am pleased with the factory unit otherwise.
The code I am getting is BCM U0184 same code for SPD. When I open up diagnostics on the radio itself I get U0002. The code on the radio, when I try and reset it, showed odometer readings 20k higher than my bike. The service tech at Harley says it looks like the bike and radio are not communicating.
I am curious if the radio is somehow married to the previous bike. Once the radio is on all items function normally. I have ridden using the GPS and music/Bluetooth functions. It does however not recognize my rear speakers at the moment since it was programmed for a bike with front speakers only.
Some additional noteworthy information, I do not have any amps or subs installed. Basically my bike is a bone stock FLHTCU with two speakers and controls integrated in the touring pack and two speakers located in the front fairing.
I am merely looking to upgrade from my 4.3 to the 6.5GT HU to add navigation. And yes if I reinstall the old unit all DTC’s and issues disappear and everything works as advertised.
Thank you for any assistance any of you can add.

two things:
1/ unplug the big connector again and check the pins on the male side etc. I had no power up issue when I went aftermarket. Turned out I had not seated it 100% (even though it had locked into place)
2/ get a new Harley tech
BCM U0184 is listed as Lost comms to radio...
the fact you are able to talk to the unit sometimes, seems to imply it should work.
this killer deal, NEW or USED?
