Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into the Biketroinics Line Leveler. I like the idea of not having to flash and to be able to go back to stock if I wanted to for whatever reason (sell, etc).

The only improvement I have seen by adding Hogtunes or Boom speakers is sitting in the driveway. At speed the quality goes away unless you have a Amp. I use my headsets from J&M at highway speed to listen to music intone road. Way better.

To keep fade, you'll need two of the BT355's.

Flashing the HU is really no big deal....dont confuse it with flashing the ECM lol

Also as gypsie said....stinger and mmats combo is a great leap forward in audio. I think you want 2 pairs of 601cx, and not the 690cx since you have a tour pack and not speaker lids.

I ran this set up...which the 690 6x9s in my lids and the 601cx in the fairing and loved it. WAY louder than you'll need to ear at any speed.
Thanks! Yeah I want to use my tour-pak and not put anything in the side bags or lids (amp or speakers). So I'm hoping the amp will fit in the batwing fairing. I want to keep my side bags open for storage/luggage.

How do you like the J&M headset? My bike came with the HD headset but it seems kind of mediocre too. I've also read a lot of issues about the cord connection going bad on the HD headset. Need one more headset and was thinking of buying a J&M Elite 801 for my helmet and using the HD that came with the bike for passenger. J&M claims the sound quality is way better than HD but that is coming from the manufacturer of course so I'm leery.

ZBot ,, never be Leary about the J&M helmet headset quality over the HD ,,,,,

dont forget that "I am" the design guy who makes sure that the J&M headset performance is superior to HD headsets, and I have been doing exactly that since Harley introduced the first Ultra Clessic in 1989 ,,,,,

which brand/model of helmet do you plan to install the headset into?

As far as fitting in the batwing fairing, that amp will fit. If keeping just a 4 channel with 4 6.5's then yes those mmats will do you justice. As far as headsets go, never use them so I cant tell you about any of them.

I also supervise the J&M R&D facility in Tucson, and I personally listen to most of the speaker and amp offerings from Harley, Fosgate, Hog tunes and others to see how they compare to what J&M ROKKER offers ,,,,

that gives me just a bit more insight than most, on what is being offered in the marketplace for the late model Harleys and how you could expect them to perform.
You've compared your system to other canned systems.

Apples to oranges really in the bike audio game. I wouldn't pay that much money for any of those "plug and play" systems personally. If any of them offered a good value, believe me I'd be all over it. Piecing together a system for way cheaper, that will out perform any you listed is very easy, and until you guys can compete price wise and performance wise with that, I'll keep piecing my own systems together.

But I'm not going to bash you or anyone else that wants to go that route. I will offer from personal experience another option to help save someone money.

Travelin Gypse ,,,,

with all due respect to YOU, if an amp is 2-ohm stable, it will also be 4-ohm stable, and 8-ohm stable for that matter ,,,,,

the J&M JMAA-2000 amplifier kit, is 100w X2 RMS power continuous (200w RMS total) ,,, which is probably better than ANY amp Harley has produced recently ,,,,,

in addition, the kit I quoted to ZBot, is $399 with discount, which includes fed ex ground shipping to his door ,,,, along with the stainless steel mounting cradle, all plug-n-play wiring harnesses, the works,,,, I challenge you to show me something that performs better and is this easy for the customer to install, at this price level.

also ,, the universal version of the J&M 200w amp kit, costs only $279.99 which includes ground shipping to your door ,,,,

sure there are other options out there and ZBot should look at them all ,,,,

but please dont attack me for showing ZBot at least one of those options ,,,

Teedoff ,,,,

nothing wrong with piecing together a system, in many cases with proper installation, they can and do perform very well ,,,,,

but bear in mind that I see hundreds of systems in the field that have been "pieced" together, wired improperly, stock wiring all chopped up, amps held into the fairing with velcro etc ,,,,

so to talk down about the "canned" plug-n-play systems, is wrong ,,,,,

show the customer what you have to offer, and let him/her make the final choice ,,,,,,

that is the best way for everyone ,,,,
