nothing wrong with piecing together a system, in many cases with proper installation, they can and do perform very well ,,,,,
but bear in mind that I see hundreds of systems in the field that have been "pieced" together, wired improperly, stock wiring all chopped up, amps held into the fairing with velcro etc ,,,,
so to talk down about the "canned" plug-n-play systems, is wrong ,,,,,
show the customer what you have to offer, and let him/her make the final choice ,,,,,,
that is the best way for everyone ,,,,
They are "canned" as in its a package that is one size fits all. That wasn't me talking down about them.
Like I said.....MUCH better systems for anyone willing do do their own research and wanting to save some money.
How do you like the J&M headset? My bike came with the HD headset but it seems kind of mediocre too. I've also read a lot of issues about the cord connection going bad on the HD headset. Need one more headset and was thinking of buying a J&M Elite 801 for my helmet and using the HD that came with the bike for passenger. J&M claims the sound quality is way better than HD but that is coming from the manufacturer of course so I'm leery.
I started off with performance lev Then went to elite and I love them ...I use a 1/2 helmet with the Elite and a Shoei RJ Platinum with the elite as well and it works great.

yup, there are tons of badly installed systems, but you do realize, lots of us use industrial plastic lock velcro effectively in our pieced together systems...

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'm going to buy one of the elite headsets and give it a try.
John, You are absolutely correct. In MOST cases, an amp that is 2 ohm stable will play 4-8ohm speakers but at a price. An amp...let me re-fraise... most amps that are 2 ohm stable will play 4 ohm but at a price of loosing watts as the ohms increase. And of course your amp will stay constant at 100w x 2 regardless of ohms. You did challenge me to find better for the price and it wasn't hard. Only had to look at one site.....Amazon.
Stinger spx 700.4 amp $314
Pac sni 15 converter 12 x2 $24
stinger 1.5 rca 6 x 2 $12
Amp wire harness $24
Total $374 off amazon with sales tax = $400. Since I am a prime member, all shipping is free.
Compare your amp to the stinger JMAA-2000HC14 Full range class D audio amplifier, spec'd at 100watts RMS per channel X2, (200w total) into 2-ohm load @ 14.4vdc. Direct from the web site.
SPX 700x4
350x2 at 4 Ohm 175x4 at 2 Ohm 125x4 at 4 Ohm
3CH MODE: 350x1 at 4 Ohm + 175x2 at 2 Ohm or 125x2 at 4 Ohm Direct from website.
J&M states direct plug and play. You have to run amp wiring to the battery, thru the frame, under the tank and remove the fairing, seat and possible tank to install. Same with non plug and play amp. J&M provides an amp tray that their amp installs to so the stock amp tray must be removed to install a J&M amp tray. Not necessary as most aftermarket amps will fit on a stock HD amp tray. My only guess is with out using their amp tray, no warranty on the amp will be valid.
John,
With do respect which would you buy if prices are the same? A 2 x 100 2 channel amp or 4x 100 /350 x 2 amp? Im not even going to get into the task of replacing the amp tray and plug and play or lack of features.
Thank you for adding to this forum and as I have stated, lack of info on your website and very aggressive sales pitches on your website leads not only me but others to only think snake oil scenario.

John. I wasnt attacking you nor would I. Hell I even defended you in a past threads about a guy who was bashing you for poor customer service. I have heard great things about your company's CS and that in my eyes means a lot ! What I have trying to do is get specs on your stuff like freq response on the 6x9's so I can compare them to others out there. Your website is very vague on the specs of your products. I just have a hard time with anyone you says this product is the best for the money or that product is the best you can buy when there is NO BEST in one category. I will also claim that I have not been in tis arena as long as you have but I have tried many different product out there and heard many different setups. I come on this forum and try to steer people in the right direction when they ask questions based on what I have tried or heard. If I have not tried or heard certain things, I also state that. I dont try to sell anything nor in any business of installing anything. I am just a novice DYI guy who likes motorcycle audio and try to help others with theirs. So do most of the other regulars on this forum. Now Im upset that I have to come on here to defend myself and for what? Geeeez.......
