Default Spring Audio Fever

I have a serious case of spring fever as it hit 50 degrees today. I want to upgrade the audio on my 2020 RGS and I'm looking for advise. I would like to keep the HU and upgrade the two front speakers, add an amp and hopefully add speakers in the bag lids (none there now). I have been reading/searching and have a couple of posts on here flagged for info but hoping someone could help with specifics for the setup in a Road Glide that I'm looking for. Like most everybody I would like the best bang for the buck without emptying the wallet lol.

If the weather was better I would try to find a bike show or something so I could listen and hear for my self. Hopefully you can get me pointed in the right direction, thanks

Hello
I have a 2020 RGS as well. Over a year ago I installed a stinger amp & 2 mmats up front with a line leveler. This setup can be heard real well at hwy speeds.
all in at that time I spent just under $600.
Just recently I added hertz speakers in the saddlebag lids and swapped amps to the sd 1200.4 evox & added a rockford dsr-1.

Best bang for the buck is very subjective. You need a honest budget then people can help. Imo can't beat the Sd evox or diamond micro amps. Speakers for farings can go from 200 to 1200. Decent speakers diamonds or gz coax. Pretty simple setups that will be better than one by far

Yup the popular set up now are the GZ 6.5 SPL coax speakers with the SD 800 evox amp. So much so the speakers are hard to find right now.

One thing with the RG is, with either the mmats 6001cx or the GZ's, the speaker pods will have to be cut or heated and reshaped. Not that bog a deal.

Also are you thinking 6x9 lids I assume?

Buying lids already made for speakers? or buying a kit to cut stock lids. I know BOSS has just comeout with a kit similar to the RF lid kid, but its like 200 bucks cheaper I think. The speakers that come with it of course aren't very good though.

I did the RF lid kit and replaced the speaker with the mmats 690cx a couple weeks later.

SD 1200 amp would be about 500, the the GZ's are 250 or so a pair. Then the lid kit runs about 400, then if you replace those speakers figure another 200 to 300. So 1500 is very doable.

You'll need to have the HU flashed as well.

Thanks teedoff65, Yes I was thinking 6x9's in the lids, wasn't sure about buying or cutting. That is part of the reason behind this thread. I am a complete newbie and looking for options, ideas, needs and hints/tricks

I was really nervous about cutting my stock lids on my last bike, so I paid an audio guy to do it. I figured if he messed them up, he has to replace them not me. lol But in all honesty, after watching him do it, they really are fool proof. You cant mess them up. Tape off the lid, secure the template...and use the template guides to make pilot holes. Then follow the slots in the template to make several cuts. Pretty easy. For i think 320 now, that boss lid kit is pretty cheap. The only bad part are the speakers that come with it probably aren't going to be good enough to hear while riding. Replace them with something better is pretty easy in most cases. I replaced my RF speakers with the mmats, and only had to dremel off an edge and re drill a couple of holes for the mounting screws.

Thanks man. I'm a dummy when it comes to audio compared to most guys here. lol I try to just be helpful when I can...Sometimes I might inject myself into things I'm not as well versed in, but some things I have had some experiences with, I try to comment. Appreciate the words and hope you get your system up and running!
