I just purchased a '17 SGS. I'd heard I won't be able to connect my phone via Bluetooth to listen to Pandora and use the USB cable to charge the phone. I have an iPhone 12.
So... I connected my iPhone via Bluetooth, plugged my phone into the USB cable on the bike, no music. I unplugged the phone from the USB cable and I have music. Is there work around using the USB cable or just use the 12v charger? Hope that made sense.
When I USB cable is plugged in can't you just select USB media on the radio and play from the USB port? Than when it's charged or whatever go back to bluetooth? Asking for a friend.
I don't know about the newer Rushmore functions but on my 2010 for charging I just got a hard wired 12v USB charger kit off of Ebay for about $10 and wired it up internally in the fairing and ran the USB cable up the handlebar and tied it off. Now when I have my phone in the RAM X-grip mount I just plug it up for charging and select bluetooth on my head unit. To protect the plug when not in use I just got a rubber cap with a tether to keep it covered.
Ill take a stab at this, do you have at least one song downloaded to your phone? if you do not, the bike has no idea what's plugged into it, if it sees one song or some type of media then it will recognize it and play.
