Default Thinking about upgrading to Lithium battery...You should!

I finally caved to the peer pressure of current forum members and upgraded to a lithium battery. And DAMN, I'm glad I did!

I upgraded my system over the winter and now have just over 4000w of amp power. My Duracell battery did just fine as long as I didn't play for more than 15 min or so with bike off, which I never really planned on anyways (I did carry a portable jump start just in-case). I thought it was a waste of money to upgrade as my battery was only 2 seasons old. Well I was wrong!

I found a good deal on a Antigravity and bit the bullet. After installing, I reset all my gains to make sure set properly with new voltage.

Here's the 2 major things I noticed:
1) with the double CCA rating, much easier starting with no lag,
2) the biggest notice: my bags hit much harder now. I can feel and hear them at 60 mph (which did not happen before) and now I have a bunch of more rattles to hunt down.

I'm starting the second season using the Antigravity ATX-30, one of the best purchases I've made! I agree with Cory...if your on the fence go for it you will not regret it!

Couple things I will add if you are considering going with a Lithium battery....First and foremost, understand that if you run the battery down that you cannot jumpstart it like an AGM battery and you will need a special charger....Secondly make sure the battery meets your needs!!! Read the fine print on these batteries as their descriptions are misleading. The ATX-30 in my opinion is well suited for 3k watts and below. The 30 would have you thinking it's a 30ah battery when in fact it's only a 15ah....there's some trickery in battery descriptions so pay close attention. The ATX 30 HD has a higher rating at 24ah but doesn't have a restart function. Lots of other options available from other manufacturers. If you're gonna make the jump to a Lithium, I'd recommend at least a minimum of 24ah and depending on your setup you may need more.

If a Lithium battery is run down too far it may not come back at all. Not supposed to happen with a BMS equipped battery (I think all current quality batteries have them) but it does. I had a parasitic draw due to a faulty speedo and it killed by 1.5 year old HD LiFe battery.

Even with the BMS the battery can still drop to a voltage that puts it to sleep. At that point your lithium charger will not detect voltage and will not charge it. Unless you have a charger that has a force mode to force the battery to wake up. There are other means to get it to "wake up" but that entails the use of a second Lithium battery. Lots of things to consider before jumping on the Lithium band wagon.

I'm going to need another battery soon but I do not want to get into the Lithium circus. Just ain't my thing. To me this is a motorcycle first and foremost. If the radio quits it ain't gonna break my heart, I still want to ride.

In looking at AGM replacements from what had been posted a while back I've looked at this one from Battery Mart:
USA-Made Motocross Platinum GYZ32HL AGM Maintenance Free Powersports Battery

It seems to be a little beefier than the standard Harley/Interstate AGM units I have been using.

Someone also recommended this one from Braille:
Braille Battery Advanced AGM Lightweight Racing Battery 21 lbs

Which seems to be even a little stouter than the one listed above. In regards to sticking with AGM does anyone have any batteries that come to mind that would be better than those two?

How are you going to deal with those posts on the Braille? Are those removable to avoid the seat interference? I looked around too, considering the Lithium last year, and reeled it back too. Ended up going with a Yuasa GYZ32HL 500cca. The previous one lasted 6 years, so I was good with that. Imho, that Platinum in that link is a rebranded Yuasa that you can get for around $130.
