I'd have to see one in person. Way too much **** under the hood on mine to guesstimate whether it would all fit or not.

I'll take pictures during the process if it helps. I've got a focal amp and a dsr1 under my fairing and a sound stream in the bag. I'm pretty sure I'll be switching out the focal for an SD 800.4 and moving it to the bag. I believe the sd 800.4 and the dsr1 would fit under the sony head unit but there is only one way to find out. I'll keep you posted as I make progress.

If its the 800 evox, you should have the room since the 800 is 5.75x 4.5 x 2 and the Stinger is 8.5 x 6 x 1.75........the stinger was snug but worked

Thanks for the pics folks.

One thing that concerned me was the brace that goes from the frame to the speakers does not fit, it is too short. This is a critical structural piece once you start adding weight under the hood. This video from FatHead Cycles shows what I am talking about:

He said that he made a bracket extension out of aluminum but didn't show HOW he made it or how sturdy it was. If the fairing takes a whack from either side that brace is what keeps things from being stressed. I know folks do without it all the time, but I want it in place.

I was wondering if there was enough room on top of the head unit for a wedge shaped amp like the Arc or Focal. If I ever did seriously think about moving to an aftermarket head unit I was considering two Arc amps under the hood (a good combination of power and low RF interference). There would also need to be room for a DSP. I know this is possible with the stock fairing and mechless head unit (don't know about disc players) but I haven't seen a semi serious build based on one of the Metra double din fairings yet.

If someone ever came out with a truly waterproof double din head unit it might make me consider the change more. In the summertime here we get pop up thunderstorms a lot in the afternoons, my setup has to be able to withstand that without me fooling around and sticking on a cover. I've gone into places before and come out and the storm had come and gone while the bike was parked in a lot.

Thanks to all that are sharing info about this fairing setup, I appreciate it.

One of the reasons I went with the fairing from FF is that the brace hole under the speakers were moved so the braces will fit. I am going to use the support & braces from Alloy Art as both of my lower braces are gone (lost them somewhere along the way) and the right side support bracket is starting to crack.
