As others mentioned . Go with the GTS HD has the cables to make the change seamless. It is a better system than the 6.5.
As for Sony WTF makes them any better the premium Sony system in both our cars has had issues. No big fan of all things HD but the GTS does work well once you figure it out.

Another question , just to be certain , a GTS would be a plug & play swap for my 2014 4.3 unit ?

The hu would have to be flashed in a 19 or newer bike before installing in your bike I believe. If you buy one and sending to carlos anyway, im sure he can do that as well.

A used one from a 19 or 20 bike needs to have the latest update performed to work in a 14-18 bike. A new unit from HD is a retro fit version.

Correct, if it's a used GTS coming from a 19 and up bike with the latest software (at least MY20.19.39.00) you're good.

H-D Change Log

Update: MY20.19.39.00
Improvements
  • P&A radio P/N’s 76000829A and 76000834A are already loaded with this software, which allows the GTS radio to be compatible with ’14-’18 Touring and Trike North American (DOM) models. If the GTS radio is not one of these two part numbers and is being installed on a ’14-‘18 Touring or Trike this software update MUST be performed with the radio connected to a ’19 or later Touring bike prior to installation on the earlier model. Once the update is complete a pre-calibration reset MUST be performed on the radio, then it can be installed on a ’14-’18 vehicle. Refer to instruction sheet 94100195 for fitment details.

Fully waterproof.
Thumb controls for all screens and functions.

Many guys love their Sony and I get it. The sound quality, boot time and adjustability make it a nice unit. Personally, I want the full functionality of thumb controls and waterproof though.
i've wanted one since I saw you drop one in in KY....the guy who did my install says he has about 15 of the GTS units and he'll install a used one in my bike for 1200....figure I can probably get something for my GT....sounds like you have no regerts

Unless a vary reasonable one comes along in the next 3 or 4 months I may wait it out or buy new for what the used ones are going for that I've seen , even with damage to the main connector socket their were still asking $1800.00 , another with a broken fin and marred face plate they wanted $1725.00 , at those price's why wouldn't you just buy a new one . $1200 sounds reasonable , especially installed , though other than the flashes / updates done on a 19 or newer , I can handle the install.

Post up that you;re looking for one here on the buy/sell side and on the harley audio FB groups. I see them available all the time there for around 1200.

Sony: turn off the auto brightness: goto Settings/Visual/DIMMER and turn it OFF from Auto makes all the difference
and simply wrap the radio in plastic draw liner (plenty of threads on here showing how to)
(I run the 7000 in my 2017 FLHXS in the British rain)

but if you are going to stump up the Harley tax..then go GTS over GT (you still wont have carplay and up-to-date free maps with the GT)
