No, not operator error. They go into a super low impedance and it puts some amps in protect mode. I've seen where if a set is connect to 2 channels of a 4 channel amp, the amp will go into protect super early. But as soon as you put a load on the other 2 channels, they all work perfect.

Again, there are a ton of these speakers that have zero issues.

Let them rip, they are popular for a reason. Price and sound quality are hard to beat.

🤞🏼 - I mean using an O-Scope and putting a "cap" so to speak on the power being driven to them...I hope they survive.

If I need to do a warranty claim, do I ship them directly to GZ or back to the states (SMS AUDIO) and they deal with it?

I always try the dealer first! I think you are worrying about nothing at the moment. When you hear them you will be smiles.

Don't change anything unless you have issues. The black part that people are talking about is the coil. The coil is the difference between a 12db/octave crossover, and a 6db per octave crossover. The filter carlos was talking about is adjusting the DSP to manually remove an additional 6db/octave where the original crossover was at after removing the coil. Its a crapshoot if you will have an issue or not, but I wouldn't recommend killing your warranty on brand new speakers without at least trying them first.

As far as whether or not you need the notch filter after removing the coil....I'm not sure that you really do. The yellow basket 6x9 coax that just released look to have the same 25mm mylar tweeter as the yellow basket 6.5, and they come with a capacitor only 6db/octave crossover. Was going to mention it in a comment on that youtube video to see what Carlos thought about it but haven't yet. Maybe I'll go do it now.

Thanks. I'm going to hook em up, let em rip, and if they go then I'll warranty. I'm sure with all the issues, GZ won't be hesitant on a legitimate claim.

From what I have been reading daily, my 400.4 bridged will be a good amount of power to help these suckers bang. With the O-scope and a - 5db 1khz test tone, I'm confident I'll get them to a comfortable level without over excursion.

Now if only I can get the hpf to work on the evox. Talk about a WIDE band from 80 to 850hz. How the heck would I locate 100 or 120-150hz...

My Kenwood headunit has a 80hz - 120hz - 160hz & 240hz built in xover. I wonder if it would be better to set the preouts for the GZ on my deck to 80hz and set the amp to Full Pass.
