Default Audio Makeover

Took the plunge on upgrading my sound system finally , it's a 2014 SG standard 4.3 head unit , fairing speakers only .

So when I first got the bike it was used with 2065 miles in Dec 2014 , I started doing my 1st round of mods that included swapping out the stock speakers with Infinity Kappa 62.11i's , I could definitely tell a difference but not enough , so a year later I added a RF-PBR300X2 amp, used the speaker level inputs , no line leveler or radio flash, everybody was still trying to figure out the best way to deal with the Boom head units in 2015 , it isn't bad for what I have in it , not really cutting it on the interstate though, it's served 6 years , stood up to downpours and still sounds ok , I'm just finally to the point of wanting to do a nice rider system.

Started off hunting a head unit , research here and elsewhere lead me to buying a used GTS unit from a low mileage 2021 bike a custom bike shop had for sale.

Next I ordered an stage 1 easy install high power kit from NVS Audio yesterday. I went with the plus system , 2 400.4 amps has the extra pair of out puts but I'm only getting fairing speakers at this time.

I have a King HD tour pak with speaker pods off a 14 Ultra , however it's a quick release that I don't run most of the time , Carlos said it's more high end than mid bass as well.

Do you think I would hear bag lid or lower speakers better if I were to add a pair ?

Pretty excited to hear it , more $$$$ than I thought I'd spend on sound , hoping to be blown away by the difference.

You'll ALWAYS hear front speakers way better than rear when riding at good speeds. You lose most of your rear speaker sound in the wind.

You're bike is liquid cooled right?

OP's bike is not twin-cooled. While I agree lowers are better than bags I'm not sure I'd go to the extent of putting lowers on a Street Glide just for the purpose of mounting speakers. It'd kinda be like putting lowers on a Road King...it's just not right IMO

In the first line of his post. lol sorry..I saw ultra in his post somewhere, and assumed.

I never thought id like lowers either, but my bike runs hot as crap regardless, so it didnt matter to me nor did adding them make that much difference. A good pair of fairing speakers alone is plenty loud enough to hear music at any speed.

The tour pak I bought came from an Ultra is what you probable saw. It has speaker pods but I don't run it all the time , set it up as a quick detach , for trips mainly.

It may be what I end up using the second set of speaker out puts for. I have soft lowers that around 65 deg are too warm for me to leave on , so I'm not sure I want a full set of hard lowers even though they are the ideal location. 95% of my riding is highway or interstate , as little as possible in urban area's.

Since my GTS was going to arrive there today I called yesterday and added a pair of Hertz SX 165 Neo coax's to my build in addition to the Ground Zero's , so he could tune them while everything's still there. I'll more than likely just put them in the tour pak pods for now.

Carlos said if my GTS showed up today my system would ship today , pretty excited about the timing as I have next week off and plenty of time to install it .

Congrats on the new system!!

Not trying to steer you in any one direction, but adding lower speakers made the biggest sound stage difference going down the road. HD lowers do have vents that open and close. I close mine in the winter and open all summer.
