Purchased a set of 5.75" motorcycle headlight housings to mount on my crash bars for the Hertz SX 165 Neo...very similar (I think) to what steel horse sells.
The speaker fits into the pod, but there is nowhere to screw into as the mounting diameter is bigger. Any ideas how I can fabricate something? Also, the magnetic on the speaker seems to pull on the steel housing when trying to seat it...once it's in it sits fine...will that cause any effects to the speaker or sound quality?
I would worry more about getting water inside the housing and onto the voice coils. I don't see how you could get it to seal. The speakers are waterproof on the front but not on the back and the electronics

They are water resistant speakers...no different than the speaker pods I would assume.

Speaker pods have a solid level platform that the speaker attaches too with a sealing gasket between the pod and speaker either on the top or underside depending on how the speaker mounts. If you can seal it with a headlight bezel it might work.
I saw that post..I thought 7" might be too big for the SX Neo's. I guess you don't really screw into anything...the speaker sits in the housing and the clamp you screw down secures it in place?
Ok...so I ordered 2 7" matte black housings, 2 of the 6.5" PVC adapters (which get pushed into the housing flush and then the speaker gets screwed into that) and 2 clamps from Steel Horse...will keep this thread updated.
Looking forward to that.....I ditched the fairing on my Heritage, I'd like to be able to keep the 6.5's in my face but they'll most likely end up on the engine guards.
