I know it's possible to use Carplay to view maps on the GTS and listen to music, podcasts, etc. at the same time from the iPhone but that's not the multitasking I'm thinking of. I'm wondering if I can view maps/nav from the iPhone on the GTS screen while listening to a different GTS source (Sirius, USB, FM radio)? Can't seem to find an answer to that.

You should just be the Guinea pig and test that out.

Had I a GTS I certainly would. Might be the deciding factor on if it's worth spending the $2Kish to get one as pretty much everything else I can do with the GT and the iPhone on the bars (I'm not worried about the slow boot time on the GT).

If I understand your question... I have used it the opposite a lot, listening to my music from CarPlay on the GTS and using the GTS's Navigation... and the buttons still control the music while viewing the map. I just went out in the garage and had Sirius playing on the GTS, and went into CarPlay on the GTS and picked "Maps", and Sirius continued playing while I was messing with CarPlay Maps. The controls still changed the channels/volume on Sirius with the CarPlay Maps up, and I could use the arrow button to do stuff in the Maps program in CarPlay... Sooooo, I think your radio source for music can be from whatever (AM/FM Radio, Sirius, a CarPlay Music app), and your Navigation can be the GTS's Nav or a CarPlay Nav app.. at the same time.... If that is what you're asking

Same here I think with AA> I always listen to music from my phone, and can use the GTS nav just fine. Can also use AA apps like google maps for nav or waze, and still listen to music. Not sure I've tried another source for music since I only have the one usb input, but I think it would also work. I think I've used Bluetooth and still used the GTS nav and such.

Well, it sounds like I'd get the flexibility I'd want. Using the iPhone screen is ok but I think it'd be better if the nav (iPhone app or built-in) was on the GTS screen for visibility. About the only thing holding me back from upgrading is losing the iPod I have plugged into the USB port. I use it when I'm in the mountains and SiriusXM, cell coverage are poor. Wish these radios had 2 USB ports. I wonder if a small USB hub would support both (either/or, not at the same time)

Well you can put all that music on your phone and use that. Cards today have larger capacity than those old ipods. lol
