A friend of mine just installed the full Hertz Neo system from Volunteer Audio, fairing/lids/amp. Doesn't sound as good as my (cheaper) SounDigital/Ground Zero system. He's not happy with it, either.

if his experience is anything like mine, the highs are crazy loud and the mid range is kind of lacking. when i first got my GZ yellows and Hertz Neos, i did a little test. same amp same song, the Hertz were louder on the highs but the GZ's were more well rounded. i guess it comes down to what type of music you prefer too. my 2 pennies.

Bingo! I would agree 100% with you.
The Hertz have their purpose and spot. I'm not a fan of them in the fairing.
The treble is extremely harsh. He has the treble turned completely down on the GTS unit and its still nasty. Overall it's just kind of a muddy sounding system. It's possible some things need adjusted or the speakers need some break in time. But yeah, it just doesn't sound that good.

This!!
The Neo's do NOT belong in front of your face...I don't care what DSP magic you perform or what Volunteer Audio has to say. If you are 90% deaf, or ride with a full face and ear plugs, put the Neo's in the TP and give em the same power as your GZ in the fairing and the sound will litterly "surround" you.

funny you should mention ear plugs... i tried ear plugs this morning to cut down on wind noise and found they help cut down on the piercing highs from the Hertz.
So to Cosmic, hope this helps you decide if you havent already.

That was an old school trick we use to use in car audio competition. It would help maximumize DB and still allow you to hear distortion without frying your ear drums.
