I recently purchased a new to me 2015 Ultra. I have updated the software from h-d.com. I read online some places, that it cost $150 to update maps. Is this correct? Is there a way around it? Im experimenting with the ride planner on my computer and export/ importing to the boom for long trips.
The stock nav is horrible, I use google maps it is so much easier to use. It also has real time traffic which has saved me many times form sitting in back ups. I have no idea about update costs.

Thanks. Ive not used stock enough to know.
I keep my I-phone on handlebar with google map and or waze typically to monitor traffic, and have weather radar running if weather is questionable.
I just figured on utilizing the stock navigation if needed, when no cell coverage, or looking for dealer or if issue with phone etc.

Yes the "Map" update is somewhere near $200, I replaced the head unit with the GTS, so got an "update" that way, and had never updated the GT that came stock on my bike... so I am not sure of the exact cost, but you're in the right ballpark.
The updates are about 150.00. You can pay/download them here - https://www.naviextras.com. It's not exactly simple or straightforward, but that's where you get the updates. You may find more info here....

I'm in the same boat as you. I've created an account and saved some routes in the ride planner. I updated the system software, but not maps. I called the dealer and asked if they do it. My local dealer said no, I have to do it myself. The map update is $110 and it's VIN locked is what they told me. I read through the map update process, long but I don't think you need to be a rocket scientist. I plan to give it a try in the next few months.
