I just bought a 2022 Road Glide Special. Most of the people I ride with have CBs that they use. I am not 100% sure they have an actual CB, or if their Ultra's have the WHIM. Is the WHIM basically a CB?
I have been trying to find a solid answer on Google, but can't get the answer I am looking for. I want to be able to talk to other riders via CB instead of using SENA. I do not have any luck with SENA. It is always noisy when I talk to others using the CB.
I bought the WHIM today, but I am not sure if I have to have anything else to make it possible for me to be able to talk to others over a CB.
Also, I have read a lot of negative reviews on the WHIM. Does anyone have any input about the reliability?
I appreciate any help I can get on this.

WHIM is the bluetooth interface between your headset/micrphone and the BOOM radio. You would still need the CB radio to communicate to other riders with a CB.
Check out this video
Thank you. I appreciate it. When I try to go and find one for any Harley, I get nothing. I only get information on the WHIM.
I will watch the video to see if it says anything about a CB in it.
Do you know if I can get one for my RG? I spoke with the parts department yesterday when I bought my bike, and he didn't even know about the WHIM till I told him about it. Before that, he kept looking at me like I was crazy and saying there is no such thing. He said I would have to use a regular handheld CB.
To use CB on your RGS, you'll first need the cb module and antenna. Then it will require the brake side switchpack with push to talk button. It will also require a headset, either wired or wireless. If wireless, you'll need the whim module. The head unit will also need flashed for both modules.
Like DSM said, you'll need the CB, switch pack with PTT button, and an antenna mount and antenna. Then headset capabilities, either wired or wireless (WHIM). Also, I think on the 2022 and the 2021 bikes the CB shows it doesn't fit your bike... but it should, I think it was a "where to put it" thing is the reason, because of too much stuff in the fairing already and where the module normally is mounted is already taken by something else... Hopefully somebody can clear that up.
Harley calls their CB a "Bike to Bike Communication kit" (HD 76000486A), but it is a 40 channel CB. When I added it to my bike I went ahead and switched both my switch packs out to the lighted switch packs (stock ones didn't have the PTT button that I needed for the CB, like DSM Limited refers to). The CB antenna mount I used was a HD# 76000308 that came with a short wire to get it up under the seat where the factory wire was, and that one mounts on the rear of the bike, like your AM/FM antenna's mount, and then I used a stock whip antenna (HD 7625009). I tried a "hidden antenna" in the fairing, but had absolutely no luck with it at all.
Thats all it takes, but my bike had a wired headset system stock. If you have WHIM that will work too.
I love my WHIM, it works perfectly, BUT is has absolutely nothing to do with a CB, 2 completely different things. the WHIM just allows you to connect a headset to the radio, its a Wireless Headset Interface Module. it will also connect one for your passenger if you go that route, you can rune the stereo, nav, passenger, make phone calls, send texts (if you have carplay) etc. through your headset too.
