Almost no one on there anymore. I put one in the truck and thought I didn't have the antenna grounded or something because no one was there. Did a radio check down by the interstate and was told mine was working fine. Most of the truckers are on the phone anymore.
I think 19 is still used, but the range being so short, most have quit using them for travel. The are great for group travel now though. Leader has one, tailgunner has one, and no one gets lost.
I'm a truck driver and we still use 19. I don't know about different parts of the country, but there are still a decent amount of us in the southeast that run radios. Sometimes it's general BS, but it's still good for road and bear reports.
When I am on a long ride by myself, I monitor Channel 19. Always hear and talk to some of the truckers on the interstates. Has saved me a lot of time due to traffic congestion ahead that I have been able to avoid.
I did the Dalton Highway up in Alaska in 2010 to the Arctic Circle. Having the CB on channel 19 was a necessity there as that is the channel all the pipeline truckers use and the only way to communicate up there!!
When I am travelling with someone else, we use Channel 24, not for any reason other than we picked that channel and use it for our chats on the road.

I use mine on long road trips. Plenty of activity with truckers on channel 19. Cell phones only work if you know the number of the person you want to call, they still use CB for truck-to-truck talk on the road.
