Hello Everyone, I need to replace my DD AW 6.5s and need your advice, please. One of them is blown.
Here is what I have:
2015 Street Glide Special
Sony XAV-AX5000
Biketronics Speaker Brackets
Focal FDP Sport (2 channels to DD 6.5s in the front, 2 channels to DD 6x9 in the lids)
JBL MX280/4 (2 channels only to DD Bullet Tweeters)
I was happy with the setup and have used it for years. I thought it was a great riding setup, very clear on the highway. Mainly listen to rock.
Appreciate any advice on a decent 6.5 replacement component.
I also had the d.d.6.5 in the fairing with the aw 28 tweeters. Liked the setup also. I went to the yellow baskets for fairing. I think i still have the D.D. 6.5 in the basement.
DD is coming out with a new version of that speaker.
Another great component setup is either AD4000 or better yet AD5000, albeit a pricey setup. Heard both of those 1st hand.
Lastly, the Hetz ML1800 is a great fairing speaker for those with BT brackets. I have a set in my possession that are owned by another member here. He may be interested in selling them. If interested, I'll ask him. He a respected member here.

I dont know if he is respected or not but those ML 1800.3's are some of the best sounding speakers out there. Since they are a 7" speaker, they can be crossed at 75 and ad legit bass to the fairing with 200w or so. I would be willing to sell them for less than half of what they cost new.

GZ Yellow Coax? I could do that and lose the bullet tweeter and JL Amp.

those are great speakers, i'm running the 6.5" version1650.3(with DA tweeters) version of them, they thump, also running them off the Focal FDP
I recently saw that wetsounds came out with a 6.5 they look nice too.
