I actually just went to the company that quoted me the Kenwood system and they had a demo model set up and it sounds WAY better than I thought it would. Good mid bass, very loud/clear. So I made an appointment to get them installed next Friday.
Kenwood system is a rebranded Hogtunes. So don't even think about it
And this is why anything read on interwebs needs to be taken with a grain of salt/disbelief
Founded in the United States in 1961, JVCKENWOOD USA is the largest sales subsidiary of JVCKENWOOD Corporation of Japan and is recognized by consumers and industry professionals for providing products known for quality, performance, and value.
In no way related to Hogtunes. Really great audio.
Despite claims of inferiority, motorcycle audio is like engine oil. Just like the true claim of many installers near you, like any business, theyre going to steer you into what they make money off of and thats not a dig, thats business.

Yes, I have seen that about hog tunes. People from Hog Tunes were at the release of this Kenwood system. I guess to a certain extent all speakers are the same, just manufactured by different companies and their expertise is what makes the speakers good/junk. Kenwood is a very reputable brand and idk what was wrong with Hog Tunes Ive never heard them but Ive seen good/bad things about them online just like any company ever. But if Kenwood can take something from them and make it even better I dont see anything wrong with it. I guess we will see how good they actually turn out. Im going to pick up my bike this evening.

I'm interested to see what you think.
Of course anything is going to sound better than that absolute junk that Harley puts in for stock.
I'm also interested to know if you've heard any other bike audio systems? Big names, plug n play, pieced together, etc.

Not heard too many plug n play. Have heard Hertz, a couple Sinister Sounds systems, then some pieced together Road Glides that have the 4 speaker front fairing + saddlebag speakers.
Well I picked up the bike this evening. I have to say Im pretty impressed with the sound quality of them. Has good treble, mid bass. Obviously at speeds you cant notice the bass as much but they are plenty loud enough for what I need them for.
