Soundstream Reserve HDHU+
1) Is there any way to split the USB to two inputs and have it work correctly? I have a thumb drive with over 3,000 songs. But in order to use Android Auto, I have to unplug it and then plug my phone into the USB port. Or to use Android Auto Wireless, I have to leave the module plugged into the USB port. I did buy a USB 1 into 2 splitter, but the HDHU+ reports "Unsupported USB Hub).
2) When first plugging in my USB thumb drive, the HDHU+ scans the unit for songs. With over 3,000 songs, it takes quite a while. Unfortunately, the HDHU+ doesn't seem to retain this info and scans the drive every time that I start up my bike, even though I have not removed it. And to make matters worse, unlike the Harley HU, the HDHU+ won't start playing until it has finished scanning the drive for songs. The question is: Is this suppose to work this way or do I have a bad unit?
What you will have to do is download the audio files from the thumb drive to your phone to be able to use AA/ACP and listen to your favorite music. OR
Use a streaming service such as spotify or equivalent

I successfully ran an Anker 4-Port USB 3.0 Ultra Slim Data Hub for MacBook on my HDHU14+ from its launch up to Firmware HDHU.14-20220524 when I upgraded to the Si (also ran the same hub on my Sony 7000 before that)
HUB connected to the radios single USB input and was presented in my media compartment in the dash:
HubPort 1: 6ft heavy duty extender cable to my saddle bag for Android Auto
HubPort 2: 32GB SanDisk full with mp3 music (no other music formats).
This allowed me to DISCONNECT the hub when it came to firmware updates or should I ever need to 'respect the rules' and run a single USB as the manual states (lessons learned from my Sony days).
I rarely experienced the HUB NOT SUPPORTED message, but I have seen it. Especially when trying to do firmware upgrades if the hub remained attached.
Hubs are wired different to 'splitters'
while I draw the line at 32GB I have run 256GB successfully. But then I ensure ALL music is .mp3, spurious characters removed and FAT sorted.
I also only use 'branded' flash drives, personal pref SanDisk Ultra
in fact I'm still running that 32GB SanDisk in my RDVFL wireless module and that only 'supports' up to a 16GB (and it works fine).
I no longer run the hub with my HDHU14.Si as the wireless module has USB through on it, so I can still have on board music that isn't on my phone
...here's to the crazy ones!

@havinabubble
I too am a fan of SanDisk. Mine is a SanDisk Ultra Fit 512GB. But again, my other vehicles form 2017 don't have an issue with it.
I saw the Anker 4-Port USB 3.0 Ultra Slim Data Hub, but decided to go with the splitter. Amazon here I come.
You might be right about the USB drive being bad, neither my laptop nor my desktop will read the USB drive. I've been scared to run a app to fix it as I don't have a lot of the songs backed up. I used to, but mistakenly thru out my music hard drive.

Hello Glen,HDHU will not be able to support two devices connected simultaneously. Using a USB within excess of 3,000 tracks, Id expect HDHU.14+ to respond in the ways you have experienced. Realistically, HDHU is capable to support flash drives up to 64GB, maybe 128GB. I expect your flash drive is 512GB or even 1T . I do have good news though. Were launching a new product in February which should improve your experience. Our V2 product will include 2 USB ports, one is dedicated solely for CarPlay or Android Auto, the second is for media playback from a USB drive or charging of other devices. I havent heard what capacity of USB flash drive can be used; however, I expect it to exceed the limitations of 14+. Also, since the processing power of V2 is much faster than 14+, I expect you will experience much faster scan times of your music library. Also, keeping the flash drive connected to V2 at all times will reduce the headache youre experiencing today .
Additionally, V2 includes a trailer full of additional upgrades to the 14+ and Si. Well talk more about those as we get closer to launch
Im sorry I dont have a solution for you today, however, look forward to V2, which will give you the experience youre looking for, and a lot more Brandon MeyerProduct ManagerEpsilon Electronics

When I first got my bike my Boom 6.5GT inFRUSTRATION System was notorious for 'INDEXING' forever when I used larger drives, it's why I switched to a 32GB max. Also leave a little space, few hundred MBs
Personally when I make a new flash drive I image it to my computer, so if I need to replicate it, I already have a duplicate.
FYI currently I'm carrying 30.6GB / 3,462 mp3
I have a digital music library in iTunes/YouTube Music of about 39K songs, built up over many MANY years and I refuse to pay for 'streaming' in order to listen to music I already own (thats not to say I don't stream)
My initial plan was to carry the entire library but I've learnt that the 6.5GT/Sony/HDHU.14+ and now Si don't wanna play nice with such an enormous libraries.
Keeping it to 32GB flash drives and tidy (thats the real key), seems to make the radios happy and I continue to use them in both my Si and Sony (which I moved to our car)
